Airship
the cargo vessels of Metru Nui
Airships were flying cargo vessels used across the Matoran Universe, based in Metru Nui at the Le-Metru Moto Hub and flown by skilled Le-Matoran pilots using Kanoka and pressurized protodermis for lift and thrust.
Airships were a type of flying vehicle operated in many regions of the Matoran Universe, most often to transport cargo. A Le-Matoran pilot worked a set of pulleys that brought either the Levitation or the Weight Increase disks into contact with the airship's framework, causing the vessel to rise or fall. For forward movement, a short section of transport chute capped at both ends and filled with highly pressurized liquid protodermis was built into the rear of the airship; the pilot could release small jets of the protodermis from the capped chute to drive the ship ahead.

- What happened when Vakama, Nokama and Matau stowed away on an airship?
- The three Toa stowed away aboard a cargo airship leaving Le-Metru during their search for the Toa Mangai Lhikan, unaware that several Vahki Nuurakh were on board. After the Toa destroyed the Vahki, the Dark Hunters Krekka and Nidhiki attacked, and the Toa left the ship using Vakama's Disk Launcher and Matau's Aero Slicers.
- Why did the Toa Hordika build new airships?
- After the Visorak swarms destroyed every airship in Le-Metru, the Toa Hordika and the Rahaga built six new ones to carry all the sleeping Matoran of Metru Nui through a rift in the Great Barrier to Mata Nui. After arriving, the six airships were melted down and the material was later used in building the six Koro.
