The Mask of Vision wasn't flashy compared to the Hau or the Miru, but it was endlessly practical. It was a power rooted in pure function.

What Akaku Does#

Akaku translated roughly to 'vision' in the MatoranMatoranThe most abundant species in the Matoran Universe, chosen by Mata Nui to inhabit and maintain his cosmic body. Language. The mask granted its wearer the ability to see through solid matter: stone, snow, earth, walls. In the Chronicles, KopakaKopakaKopaka was the Toa Nuva of Ice, deputy commander of the Toa Mata, and one of the six warriors crafted on Artakha to defend the Matoran Universe. used this power to navigate Ko-WahiKo-WahiKo-Wahi is a region situated directly above Ko-Metru, inhabited by Matoran, Turaga, Toa, and Rahi. It was formerly under the control of Teridax.'s frozen terrain and spot threats the naked eye couldn't catch. Most Akaku came fitted with special lenses that provided telescopic sight as well, extending the range and making the mask even more valuable for reconnaissance and exploration.

Composition and Crafting#

The Akaku masks worn by the Toa Mata were crafted on Metru NuiMetru NuiThe city beneath Mata Nui functions as the Great Spirit's brain, housing the Matoran whose labor keeps the god alive. from a mixture of Regeneration and Teleport Kanoka. This blend of Kanoka types created the unique properties that allowed the mask to penetrate physical matter. The crafting process was complex, befitting a mask intended for beings as powerful as the Toa. Both Great and Noble versions of the Akaku existed, with the Great version offering more raw power and capability than its standard counterpart.
