How did the Toa Mata recover their Kanohi?
The Toa discovered that removing an infected Kanohi from a Rahi restored the creature to its neutral state, a principle Onua demonstrated by tearing the infected mask from a Tarakava. They then systematically recovered the remaining masks across the six districts of Mata Nui before retrieving the Golden Kanohi at Kini-Nui.
What are the Toa Kaita?
The Toa Kaita are two merged forms the team created to defeat a pair of Manas they could not beat as six individuals. Akamai was formed from Tahu, Onua, and Pohatu, and Wairuha from Gali, Lewa, and Kopaka. The Kaita trapped the Manas in lava, froze them solid, removed their infected masks, then split back into the six individual Toa.
Who are the Shadow Toa?
The Shadow Toa are six dark counterparts of the Toa Mata, one for each element, encountered beyond the Manas. The canonical resolution recorded in the founding documents was that each Toa absorbed their own shadow counterpart, acknowledging that darkness was an inherent part of themselves, before proceeding into the Makuta's chamber.
