Kaita: the Fusion of Three
A Kaita was a being formed from the fusion of three separate beings into one. The merged form had its own distinct mind, mask, and weapons. The Toa Mata produced the two best known Kaita, Akamai and Wairuha, and other kinds existed among the Bohrok, Rahkshi, and Turaga.

The nature of fusion#
A Kaita was not a team but a single being. Once three beings fused, they ceased to act as three and became one entity with a personality, a KanohiKanohiMasks that grant powers and sustain life, they're the most vital artifact in the Matoran Universe., and a set of weapons that belonged to none of them individually. The fused form drew on the combined power of its parts and stood far above any of them in strength. The fusion was not automatic; it demanded mental focus, and a group that could not hold that focus could not maintain the merged shape.
