To strike the first blow, Garan and KaziKaziKazi is a Ko-Matoran of Ice who wears a Kanohi Matatu and is distinguished by his white and light-blue coloring. A member of the Voya Nui Resistance Team, he wields Echo Forks and resides on Spherus Magna. stole a completed Zamor Launcher that the Piraka AvakAvakA Skakdi thief whose perfect prisons made him invaluable to the Piraka's Mask of Life heist. had just finished crafting, and afterward concluded the device was a weapon rather than a tool. Garan and Balta later trailed HakannHakannThe Skakdi bully known for pure aggression, from Dark Hunter mercenary to Piraka thief driven by violence and power. and Avak and overheard enough to confirm the Piraka were not Toa.
Garan was eventually captured and questioned in the Chamber of Truth by VezokVezokThe Beast was a Piraka thief split in two by the Spear of Fusion, then imprisoned by the Order of Mata Nui.. Unwilling to betray his friends, he lied in answer to every question but the last, which asked about the six Spirit Stars that had appeared in the sky; he replied truthfully that the stars were no trick of the Matoran and that six new Toa had come to destroy the Piraka. He was then thrown into a crevice of lava, though he was later rescued from the Chamber of Truth and rejoined the group.
Brave and intelligent, Garan led the resistance as a capable tactical thinker who believed the Matoran would prevail because they worked together while the Piraka did not.
