Kanohi Mask of Scavenging

The KanohiKanohiMasks that grant powers and sustain life, they're the most vital artifact in the Matoran Universe. Mask of Scavenging, also called the Mask of Vulture, lets its wearer drain the residual life energy from nearby beings who have just died, making the wearer stronger and more able. It began in a fan project that writer Greg Farshtey approved, and his online answers give it to the MakutaMakuta (Species)Shadowy Antidermis beings and the Brotherhood's elite, Makuta commanded darkness and shaped the Matoran Universe's fate. IcaraxIcaraxHe thought scheming was for the weak and said so out loud, so the canon made sure the thing that finally killed him was a scheme., who later swapped it for the KraahkanKanohi KraahkanTeridax's Great Mask sees the darkness in everyone. That's how it conquered the Matoran universe., and to the Matoran VultrazVultrazVultraz is a Shadow Matoran, formerly a Ta-Matoran, who wears a powerless Mask of Scavenging and carries a sword. Dark red and black in coloration, he possesses an active power of Shadow while his former affinity for Fire remains inactive. He resides in a parallel universe.. Function#

Under the rules Farshtey approved, the Mask of Scavenging lets its user drain the residual life energy from the bodies of any nearby beings who have just died, and that energy makes the user stronger and more capable. He added in later answers that Toa would consider it immoral, since it feeds on the life force of sentient beings, and that like other immoral masks it was made under the direction of the Brotherhood of MakutaThe Brotherhood of MakutaAn organization of Makuta created by Mata Nui to build Rahi and keep order in his universe, later seized by Teridax and turned into the instrument of the Plan that overthrew the Great Spirit.. He resides in a parallel universe. was a ruthless Ta-Matoran from the Tren Krom Peninsula. After a fall that nearly killed him, Makuta GorastGorastA Makuta defined by rage and ruthlessness, Gorast conquered the Visorak and became Teridax's most devoted enforcer. rebuilt him so he would not be recognised and made him her agent. Later, when a badly injured Icarax sent telepathic orders calling him to Karda Nui, Vultraz went, but while diving at his old enemy Mazeka he was pulled through a portal into an alternate universe. Farshtey's answers say the mask Vultraz wears has the shape of a Mask of Scavenging. As a Matoran, he never draws on its power in the story. (Writer's later comment, not a published story)

Place in the Brotherhood arsenal#

If the approved rules hold, the Mask of Scavenging fits the Brotherhood's taste for powers that work by draining one thing to feed another.
