Mizuni Rotors
Gali Nuva's Underwater Propulsion
The Mizuni Rotors were wrist-mounted propellers carried by Toa Nuva Gali after her transformation in Energized Protodermis, later replaced by Adaptive Armour.

Function#
The Rotors propelled Gali Nuva through water at speeds exceeding those achievable by ordinary Toa swimming. They proved useful in the deep-water approaches to MangaiaMangaiaThe hidden stronghold of Teridax beneath the island of Mata Nui, containing Energized Protodermis and connected to the Bohrok Nest. and later in the waters around Mahri NuiMahri NuiA matoran settlement that sank, survived, and was ultimately crushed beneath Voya Nui, leaving behind one of Bionicle's most poignant lost civilizations., where she required rapid, controlled movement through currents that would have slowed an unaided Toa. The rotors allowed her to outflank hostile RahiRahiThe Rahi were the biomechanical wildlife of the Matoran Universe, built largely by the Brotherhood of Makuta, ranging from background fauna to engineered war beasts. and to reach depths that would otherwise have required prolonged descent.
The rotors were a fixed piece of equipment, not a discretionary tool, and operated whenever Gali required underwater speed. They were not equipped for surface use.
Replacement by Adaptive Armour#

Status#
After the receipt of the Adaptive Armour, the Mizuni Rotors do not appear in subsequent records. They were not issued to any other Toa, including the Toa MahriToa Inika and Toa MahriSix ordinary Matoran transformed by lightning from the Red Star into heroes who ultimately revived the Great Spirit itself., who would have had occasion to use them. Frequently asked questions
- What were the Mizuni Rotors in BIONICLE?
- The Mizuni Rotors were a pair of wrist-mounted propellers carried by Gali Nuva following the transformation of the Toa Mata into the Toa Nuva. They served as a dedicated underwater propulsion system.
- How did Gali acquire the Mizuni Rotors?
- The rotors were produced during the transformation of the Toa Mata into the Toa Nuva, when each of the six was exposed to Energized Protodermis. They were not added equipment but extensions of her upgraded Nuva body, formed in the same transformation that produced her new armour.
- What did the Mizuni Rotors do?
- The rotors propelled Gali Nuva through water at speeds exceeding ordinary Toa swimming. They proved useful in the deep-water approaches to Mangaia and later in the waters around Mahri Nui, letting her outflank hostile Rahi and reach depths that would otherwise have required prolonged descent.
- Why did Gali stop using the Mizuni Rotors?
- The rotors were retired when Artakha supplied the Toa Nuva with Adaptive Armour. Because that armour reconfigured itself for any environment, including aquatic configurations, the dedicated rotors were rendered redundant and were not retained for the Karda Nui campaign.
- Did any other Toa use the Mizuni Rotors?
- No. The rotors were unique to Gali Nuva and were not issued to any other Toa, including the Toa Mahri. Their disposition after removal from Gali's armour was not recorded.
