Kotu was a Ga-Matoran of Water who resided on Spherus Magna. Blue and light blue in color, Kotu wore a powerless Rau and carried a Kolhii Stick, serving at various times as a Rahi Tender, an assistant to Nokama, an athlete, and a guard in the Defense Force.

In the aftermath of the Bohrok-KalBohrok-KalSix elite Bohrok designed to free the imprisoned Bahrag, they nearly defeated the Toa Nuva before the Toa turned their own powers against them.'s defeat, a Kolhii tournament was held, and it was speculated that Kotu and Macku would represent Ga-Koro on the village team. To the surprise of the Ga-Matoran, Hahli was chosen in Kotu's place, and went on to help win the championship.
