A ledge over a lava break in Ta-Wahi, accessible by a single ladder near the Ta-Koro Kolhii Stadium, where the Ta-Koro Guard Keahi patrolled and trained the Ga-Matoran Hahli in the Kolhii skill of Courage.

The siting served a deliberate purpose. A watch post on a ledge over a lava break, with one ladder for access, could not be flanked or rushed by anything that did not have the means to cross molten protodermis under its own power. The position was self-defending against everything except an opponent with significant ranged capability or aerial mobility, and the Ta-Koro GuardTa-Koro GuardThe Ta-Koro Guard was the largest standing Matoran fighting force on Mata Nui, captained by Jaller and active from the early Rahi conflicts through the return to Metru Nui.'s use of the cliff as a patrol post made the most of those defensive properties.

Strategic value of the position#
The cliff's tactical worth ran beyond its training role. A patrol post on a ledge above a lava break commanded a sight line over a region of Ta-WahiTa-WahiTa-Wahi was the volcanic region of Mata Nui surrounding the Mangai Volcano, encompassing Ta-Koro, the Lake of Fire, the Charred Forest, and the Ta-Wahi Beach. that was otherwise broken by ridges and lava channels and difficult to observe from the village proper. A Guard standing on the ledge had a line of view across the surrounding terrain that no street-level patrol could match, and the elevation kept the post above the worst of the thermal distortion that rose from the lava channels themselves.
The single-ladder access also functioned as a defensive feature. Any attempt to reach the post by a hostile force had to come up the ladder one body at a time, exposing each attacker to the watch standing on the ledge. A small Guard force could hold the position against a numerically superior attack provided the ladder could be controlled.

Frequently asked questions
- What is Keahi's Cliff?
- Keahi's Cliff was a ledge above a lava break in the Ta-Wahi region of Mata Nui, set close to the Ta-Koro Kolhii Stadium. It was patrolled by Keahi, a member of the Ta-Koro Guard, and it bore his name in Matoran usage.
- How was Keahi's Cliff reached?
- The ledge could only be reached by climbing down a single ladder fixed near the stadium entrance. There was no second route, so a patrol on the cliff could be reached only by descent.
- Why was Keahi's Cliff used to train Hahli in Courage?
- Courage was the Ta-Matoran contribution to Kolhii, the skill of committing to a contested play on dangerous ground without flinching. A drill performed on a ledge above active lava, with one ladder for retreat, did not permit the trainee any reservation about commitment, so the setting itself was the lesson.
- Why was Keahi's Cliff a strong defensive position?
- A watch post on a ledge over a lava break, with one ladder for access, could not be flanked or rushed by anything unable to cross molten protodermis on its own. A small Guard force could hold the position against a numerically superior attack as long as the ladder was controlled.
- What happened to Keahi's Cliff?
- It stood up to the Rahkshi assault on Ta-Koro, when Lerahk, Panrahk, and Guurahk sank the village into the Lake of Fire. The lava break became part of the rising lake, the ladder access was lost with the surrounding rock, and the site was not rebuilt.
