Biology Sector: Facility Two Laboratory
The Biology Sector was the biological laboratory of Facility Two on Tau Volantis, dedicated to the study of the extinct aliens and the Rosetta specimen, and later turned to research on the Necromorphs.
The Biology Sector, also called the Biological Laboratory, was a section of the Sovereign Colonies research complex Facility Two on Tau Volantis. It was devoted to the study of the planet's extinct alien race and the Rosetta specimen, and was later turned to the study of the Necromorphs.
Purpose and layout#
The Biology Sector was built mainly to research the extinct alien race and the Rosetta specimen, with a complete laboratory dedicated to the remains. Later the complex was also used to study the Necromorphs. It connected to the other sections of Facility Two, including the Paleontology Sector and the Research Compound Silo. A central hall joined the sub sections of the main building and held an elevator that led up to the Rosetta Lab. A storage hall served as a warehouse where the Science Division kept the recovered Red Markers.
The Rosetta Lab and neurology section#
The Rosetta Lab sat on the second floor of the main building, above the sphere at the central hall, and was attached to a further hall with a decontamination chamber. It held a control panel for the lab's machinery, an assembly station built specifically to reassemble the remains of Rosetta, and a second workstation and control panel used to harness the information within the specimen and produce an artificial Codex.
A large door west of the central hallway, beside the Rosetta Lab, led to the neurology section. A corridor there ended at a sterilization control room and a pump room for the corrosive liquid used in the sterilization process, with a small adjacent passage and elevator descending to the pump itself in a tall chamber. The neurological laboratory was a large room open to the mountain top through its roof, used for brain scans and other neurological experiments on the aliens and on captured Necromorphs. A crossover hallway connecting the Biology and Paleontology sectors could be reached from the second floor of the neurology hall.
