By Joe Garratt

Locke was a pilot of the Earth Defense Force assigned to the USM Eudora. Alongside her co-pilot Mark Rosen, she flew the special operations vessel that recovered Isaac Clarke from the New Horizons Lunar Colony and carried him on the journey toward Tau Volantis. She did not survive that journey, killed during the violent descent to the frozen world.

Journey to Tau Volantis#

Locke served as a pilot of the USM Eudora alongside her co-pilot, Mark Rosen. Under the orders of Captain Robert Norton, the two aided in the rescue of Isaac Clarke from the New Horizons Lunar Colony during the siege mounted by the Unitologist extremists of the Circle. With Isaac aboard, they entered ShockSpace, locking on to the shock beacon that Ellie Langford and her team had taken with them to Tau Volantis.

When the Eudora arrived at Tau Volantis, it was bombarded and severely damaged by mines left behind by the old S.C.A.F. flotilla. During the rush to safety, Rosen injured his leg, and Locke worked to stave off the bleeding. The destruction of the Eudora sent the sealed compartment holding Locke and Rosen hurtling through space toward the ruins of the flotilla. Norton, Clarke, and John Carver evaded the mines and regained control of the compartment, guiding it into the wreck of the CMS Roanoke, where they took shelter while Locke struggled to keep Rosen from bleeding out.

Death over Tau Volantis#

Norton and Carver helped Locke and Rosen out of the compartment, and the survivors joined Langford's team in a combined effort to recover the parts needed to repair the CMS Crozier. With the shuttle made spaceworthy again, the crew began the perilous descent through the debris and minefield toward the surface of Tau Volantis. As the shuttle started to fall apart under the strain, Locke's computer console exploded, rupturing the hull. The breach pulled her out of the ship and into the planet's atmosphere, killing her.

Locke was the only member of Norton's crew who did not treat Isaac with hostility. The single time she interacted with him directly came during that turbulent landing, when Isaac asked for a course correction and she voiced her doubts about reaching their window, moments before her death.
