Titan Elementary School

Titan Elementary School was a school in the Concourse of Titan Station, the orbital city also known as the Sprawl. It taught children across a wide range of ages, from daycare infants to middle school pupils, and stood opposite the elevator to the Concourse's first floor. As the signal of the Site 12 Marker leaked across the station, the school's children turned violent and unstable, and during the outbreak the building became a source of many of the child Necromorphs that overran Titan Station.

Description#

Titan Elementary School held various classrooms arranged in order from youngest to oldest, each fitted out for its age group with small tables and chairs set so the children could face their teachers. The first room was a daycare center lined with cribs, baby toys and infant care supplies, joined to a room for preschoolers. These two rooms were where the majority of the Crawlers were found during the outbreak. The building also held an infirmary, a recreational court, and a cafeteria that doubled as a gym and a stage. A playground sat at the exit, where children waited for their parents, and it connected to an elevator that ran straight to the Transport Hub.

The school's character showed in its details. Its exterior carried a display window of trophies and a welcome door bearing greetings in several languages and a painting of two children at play. Inside, small lockers held the children's belongings, a yellow carpet with red squares ran through the halls, and giant yellow stars hung from the ceilings. The walls were dotted with the children's own artwork and with notice boards, and the school mascot was the Space Tiger.

The Marker's influence#

The school suffered before the outbreak ever reached it. The children had begun to develop disciplinary problems, and many grew unstable, reporting that they could speak with deceased relatives and turning increasingly hostile toward one another. This mirrored the events that had followed the discovery of Marker 3A on Aegis VII, and it was the work of the Site 12 Marker, whose signal had begun leaking through its containment. Some children had been seeing visions of the creatures well before the outbreak began, a fact recorded in the artwork left throughout the building. A log attributed the restlessness to the strain of living in space, but the true cause was the Marker.

The outbreak#

When the outbreak struck Titan Station, the school was overrun. It was presumably the main source of most of the Necromorphs formed from children, swarmed by Crawlers, the infant form, and by the Pack, the child form. Isaac Clarke first encountered Crawlers when he reached the school during his flight through the Concourse.

The interior was left heavily damaged by the violence. Walls and walkways were torn open and some areas sealed off entirely by debris, while papers, children's shoes, toys and sports equipment littered the halls and the playground.
