Titan Memorial Medical Center
The Hospital That Hid Project Telomere
The Titan Memorial Medical Center was a hospital on Titan Station whose psychiatric wing concealed the secret laboratories of Project Telomere. It was overrun in the opening hours of the 2511 Necromorph outbreak, and it was here that Isaac Clarke woke from three lost years.
The Titan Memorial Medical Center was a medical facility on Titan Station, the colony known as the Sprawl. Around 2508, in the wake of the Aegis VII incident, EarthGov installed secretive laboratories in the psychiatric wing of the hospital under the umbrella of Project Telomere. It was in the psych ward of this hospital that Isaac Clarke was held for three years, and it was here that he woke at the start of the Necromorph outbreak that tore through the station in 2511.
EarthGov laboratories#
The Titan Memorial Medical Center was a hospital on Titan Station, the colony known as the Sprawl. Around 2508, after the Aegis VII incident, EarthGov ordered new laboratories to be installed in the Medical Center's psych wing so that the agency could study its Project Telomere patients. The wing became the holding place for the test subjects whose minds were being used in the program, hidden behind the routine operations of a working hospital.
Before the outbreak#
Events leading up to the Necromorph outbreak in 2511 suggest that the hospital's patients and staff had been experiencing Marker-related symptoms well beforehand. The personnel had begun to suffer a spike in anxiety and psychological issues that were considered unusual. Compounding the situation, the undisclosed medical experiments performed on the psych patients for Project Telomere left them combative, frightened and agitated, the result of being forced to take drugs that suppressed their memories. Among the patients in the ward were Isaac Clarke, the fellow subject Nolan Stross, and Lexine Weller, who was in the middle of a fertility examination when the outbreak began.
The outbreak on the Sprawl#
Titan Memorial was overrun by Necromorphs at the very start of the outbreak. The signs of chaos and death were written across the walls and the environment of the hospital: incomplete surgeries, bodies left limp in wheelchairs, and patients abandoned in their beds to die, all of it suggesting that the staff had been overtaxed by the infected and by living civilians who came to the hospital for help during the evacuation ordered by Director Hans Tiedemann.
The Unitologist agent Franco Delille entered the already ruined psych ward to extract Isaac Clarke for the Church of Unitology. His mission was only partly successful. Isaac was freed from the Stasis that had confined him, but he was left to escape on his own after Franco was killed by an Infector. Sprawl Security roamed the halls hunting the key subjects that Tiedemann wanted eliminated, and they were systematically picked off by the Necromorphs that filled the building. Foster Edgars was the only member of the hospital staff Isaac found physically unharmed, and Edgars took his own life in front of him.
Lexine Weller's husband Gabe warned her of the danger and urged her to flee, while Stross managed to escape the lockdown and Isaac was forced to find another route out of the complex. Lexine remained hidden in the psych ward, evading the Oracles and Victor Bartlett as she waited for Gabe. By the time Gabe Weller reached the hospital, shortly after Isaac had killed a Tripod and headed for Titan Heights, the Corruption and the number of Necromorphs, both enhanced and standard, were spreading at an incredible rate. At the cost of his own life, Gabe enabled Lexine to escape the hospital and leave Titan Station aboard a gunship. Like every other part of the Sprawl, the hospital was destroyed when the station exploded.
Connection to the Ishimura#
Long before the outbreak, the Titan Memorial Medical Center had supplied the wider colony and its ships. Items and pieces of medical equipment found aboard the USG Ishimura bore the logo of the Medical Center, an indication that the hospital had provided supplies to the planet cracker before its final mission to Aegis VII.
