Junction
the Spacing Guild headquarters world
Junction was the primary world of the Spacing Guild, headquarters of the Guild and its bank and home to the only Navigator school. Its surface was almost entirely covered with landing fields and repair bays for Heighliners.
The name Junction was used for both the multiple worlds and planetary objects given over to Spacing Guild operations and for a single primary center of Guild activity. In that latter sense Junction was the headquarters world of the Guild, the seat of its bank, and the home of the only school for Navigators, a world whose surface had been all but consumed by the infrastructure of interstellar travel.
A name for many worlds#
The name Junction was applied in two senses. In the broader sense it referred to the multiple worlds and planetary objects used for Spacing Guild operations across the known universe. In the narrower and more important sense it referred to a single primary world that served as the center of Guild activity.
The headquarters world#
In that primary sense, Junction was the headquarters of the Spacing Guild and the seat of its bank. It was also the location of the only school for Navigators. The surface of the world was almost completely covered with landing fields and repair bays for the great Heighliners, the transports on which the Guild's monopoly over space travel rested. Junction also held the Navigator's Field, where Guild Navigators who had died were memorialized.
Conquest by the Honored Matres#
Junction was conquered by the Honored Matres during their return from the Scattering. It became the home of the Great Honored Matre and, in time, the location of the eventual Battle of Junction.
