Logno

Great Honored Matre

Logno was the chief advisor to the Great Honored Matre Dama, whom she assassinated by poison to seize the title for herself. Her brief reign ended on Junction when Murbella killed her and took command of the Honored Matres.

By Joe Garratt

Logno was an Honored Matre who served as chief advisor and aide to the Great Honored Matre Dama, with whom she often argued over Dama's strange behavior and attitudes. Through a poisoning by Chaumurky she removed Dama and took the title of Great Honored Matre for herself, only to die soon after on Junction at the hands of Murbella. She was killed in 15240 AG.

Advisor to Dama#

Logno served as chief advisor and aide to the Great Honored Matre Dama, and the two often argued over Dama's strange behavior and attitudes. Dama ordered Logno to investigate "The Weapon" and to learn whether the Ixians could duplicate it; Logno reported that they could not. It was during that work that she recognized how thoroughly Dama indulged appetites her predecessors had rejected, keeping company with futars and pursuing aims earlier leaders would have refused.

During the interrogation of the captured Jewish woman and wild Reverend Mother Rebecca, Logno wished to kill her, as did many of the Honored Matre council. Dama, whose autocratic will always prevailed, ordered her not to, instead bidding them let the captive go free.

Seizing the title#

When the Bene Gesserit Mother Superior Darwi Odrade arrived on Junction, accompanied by a delegation that included Tamalane, Dortujla, and Suipol, to offer the surrender of the Sisterhood, Dama ordered her guards and advisors to leave so that she and Odrade could discuss the terms alone. While that meeting proceeded, the Bene Gesserit Supreme Bashar Miles Teg launched an attack on Gammu with the Sisterhood's forces.

On Junction, Logno carried out the plan she had already laid. She assassinated Dama with poison, assumed control of the Honored Matres, and at once accepted the surrender. The move surprised Odrade, but she and Teg soon understood they had walked into a trap: the Honored Matres deployed "The Weapon" and turned apparent defeat into victory, destroying a great part of the Bene Gesserit forces.

Death on Junction#

In a desperate final gamble, Murbella landed on Junction and declared her hostility toward the Great Honored Matre before an Honored Matre named Elpek. She was taken to Logno, who, unable to help herself, attacked her. Murbella killed Logno and took command of the Honored Matres, who stood awed by her physical prowess. In the same melee Elpek killed Odrade, and when the new Great Honored Matre and Mother Superior of the Bene Gesserit saw Odrade's body, she killed Elpek on the spot.
