He led the first and primary rebellion of noble Houses against Emperor Paul Muad'Dib, a war that ended with his allies stranded in deep space and his homeworld sterilized.
- Miles TegMiles Teg was a Bene Gesserit Mentat and military commander, the Supreme Bashar of the Sisterhood's forces, bred down the Atreides line and so close in likeness to Leto Atreides I that he was used to reawaken a Duncan Idaho ghola. Tortured into prescience, he died in battle on Rakis and was later revived as a ghola.
- Minotauros Atreides: Duke Mintor, the bullfighter Duke of CaladanMinotauros Atreides, called Duke Mintor, was the 266th Duke of House Atreides and ruler of Caladan. A younger son raised far from his father's court, he came to the ducal throne after his demi brother died without a legitimate heir, fathered Duke Leto I with his concubine Bekah, and died at 104 in his own bullring, killed by the bull El Muerte.
- Moneo AtreidesMoneo Atreides was the last majordomo of the God Emperor Leto Atreides II, a descendant of Ghanima Atreides who once led a rebellion against Leto before a trance in the spice converted him into the regime's most devoted servant. He was the father of Siona and died in the ambush that ended Leto's reign.
- MurbellaMurbella was an Honored Matre captured by the Bene Gesserit, sexually bonded to a Duncan Idaho ghola, and trained until she survived the Spice Agony to become a Reverend Mother. After the war between the two orders she rose to be both Mother Superior and Great Honored Matre, uniting the rival sisterhoods.

- Natalya Arat Corrino: Empress of the Known UniverseNatalya Arat Corrino was Empress of the Known Universe through her marriage to Emperor Javicco Corrino, a union she brokered herself and one that bound thousands of worlds to the Imperial throne. When her husband's authority faltered she claimed power in her own right, allying with the soldier Desmond Hart against the Sisterhood.
- Norma CenvaNorma Cenva was a mathematical genius of the Butlerian Jihad who designed the first foldspace ship, became the first Guild Navigator, and co-founded the Spacing Guild. She ultimately evolved into the disembodied Oracle of Time.

- Ori ZhomaDoctor Ori Zhoma was a Suk physician who rose to lead the flagship Suk school on Salusa Secundus after murdering its corrupt head. Recruited by the Sisterhood to sterilize Emperor Salvador Corrino, she was killed before her role could be exposed.
- OtheymOtheym is a former Fedaykin of Paul Atreides who comes home from the Jihad dying of a disease caught on Tarahell. In Dune Messiah he hands Paul the names of the Fremen plotting against him, recorded in a Tleilaxu dwarf.

- Pardot KynesPardot Kynes was the Imperial Planetologist who first studied Arrakis, married into the Fremen, and gave them his dream of greening the desert. His vision of a transformed Dune would be carried on by his son Liet-Kynes.

- Rhombur VerniusRhombur Vernius was the last true Earl of Ix, a lifelong friend of Duke Leto Atreides who survived an assassination attempt through cybernetic reconstruction, retook his occupied homeworld, and died shielding a planetary governor on Balut.
- Rivvy Dinari: Swordmaster of GinazRivvy Dinari was a Swordmaster instructor on Ginaz who taught the philosophy and warrior code of the ancient samurai and held honor above all other lessons. - Sarah Butler: the unborn mother of the Kwisatz HaderachIn The Dune Encyclopedia, Sarah Butler was the daughter of Jehanne and Thet'r Butler, destroyed at birth in a hospital on Komos by order of a thinking machine. She had been chosen by the Bene Gesserit breeding program to bear the first Kwisatz Haderach, and her death sparked the revolt that grew into the Butlerian Jihad.
- Saudir I: the Great, fourth Emperor of the Known UniverseSaudir I ruled the Corrino Imperium from 12 BG to 70 AG and gave the empire the shape it would keep for ten thousand years. He negotiated the Spacing Guild into the imperial order, created CHOAM at the Financial Synod of Aerarium IV, and settled the accord that isolated Ix. He was remembered as Saudir the Great and Saudir Akbar.
- Saudir III al-Harkonnen: the Harkonnen usurper of the Golden Lion ThroneDuke Saudir Harkonnen of Eluzai overthrew the regent Henli I al-Qair in 388 AG and ruled for a single year as Saudir III, eighteenth Emperor of the Known Universe. In that year he made Salusa Secundus a prison planet and recalled the exiled main branch of House Harkonnen, before the Sardaukar slaughtered him and his family in a palace revolt.
- ScytaleScytale is the Tleilaxu Face Dancer in Dune Messiah's conspiracy against Paul Atreides. He kills the veteran Farok, takes the shape of Otheym's daughter Lichna, and dies holding a knife over Paul's newborn twins. A Tleilaxu Master of the same name returns in Chapterhouse: Dune as the last of his kind.

Across the long years of the Butlerian Jihad he was the unlikely friend of Vorian Atreides, a friendship that ended only when their loyalties forced them to fire on one another at the Battle of Corrin.
- Shaddam Corrino IVShaddam Corrino IV was the 81st and final Padishah Emperor of the Corrino Empire. Threatened by the popularity of Duke Leto Atreides, he conspired with House Harkonnen to destroy him, only to be brought down himself by Paul Muad'Dib and the Fremen during the Desert War.

- Sidir VI: the five-times Emperor of the Era of the PrincesSidir VI, also recorded as Saudir VI, was a Padishah Emperor of House Corrino who held the Golden Lion Throne on five separate occasions between 1848 AG and 1965 AG.
