Tyekanik: the Sardaukar Bashar who took up the Fremen religion
Bashar Tyekanik commanded Sardaukar for House Corrino after Paul-Muad'Dib deposed Shaddam IV, and ran Wensicia Corrino's failed plot to kill the Atreides twins. Ordered to study the Fremen warrior faith, he found it suited a soldier, and he submitted to Leto II when Farad'n gave the Sardaukar away.
Tyekanik was a Sardaukar Bashar who stayed with House Corrino after Shaddam IV was deposed by Paul Atreides. Under Shaddam's daughter Wensicia he was the instrument of the plot to kill the Atreides twins, Leto and Ghanima, and when that plot failed he ended his career serving the elder of the two children he had been sent to murder.
Who was Tyekanik in Dune?#
Tyekanik was the Sardaukar Bashar who served House Corrino in the years after Paul-Muad'Dib took the throne from Shaddam IV, and who carried out Wensicia Corrino's attempt on the lives of the Atreides twins.
The Sardaukar he commanded were no longer an imperial army by then. Their emperor had been unseated, their reputation had been broken on Arrakis, and what remained of the corps answered to a deposed family living on its memories. Tyekanik stayed anyway.
A soldier's religion#
The order to study Fremen belief came from Wensicia and was tactical in intent. She wanted the Corrinos to understand the cousins and adversaries who had taken the Imperium from them, and she judged that the religion was the way in.
Tyekanik obeyed and then went further than the brief. The warrior faith of the Fremen turned out to suit the way a soldier already thought, and he found it apt rather than foreign. A Corrino intelligence exercise produced a genuine convert.
What happened to Tyekanik?#
When Leto Atreides II rose to power and Farad'n Corrino gave away his Sardaukar, Tyekanik submitted to the young emperor's order rather than fight it.
That is the whole of the recorded ending. The Bashar who had run an assassination against the twins finished under the command of one of them, and the corps that had once enforced the Corrino peace passed to the Atreides with him.

Farad'n Corrino: the scribe Harq al-Ada
Farad'n Corrino was the grandson of the deposed Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV, raised to reclaim the throne but turned instead toward scholarship by the Lady Jessica. Wensicia Corrino
Wensicia Corrino was the third daughter of Padishah Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV and the mother of Farad'n Corrino. From exile on Salusa Secundus she plotted to restore her family to the throne, culminating in a failed attempt on the lives of the Atreides twins.
Ghanima Atreides
Ghanima Atreides was the pre-born daughter of Paul Muad'Dib and Chani, and the twin sister of the God Emperor Leto Atreides II. Married in name to her brother and consort to Farad'n Corrino, she seeded the Atreides, Harkonnen and Corrino bloodlines across the Empire.
House Corrino: ten thousand years enthroned
The imperial House ruled from Kaitain and held Salusa Secundus as its fief. Paul Atreides forced Shaddam IV to give up the Golden Lion Throne.
Leto Atreides II
Leto Atreides II was the third and final ruler of the Atreides Empire and its first and only God Emperor. The pre-born son of Paul Muad'Dib, he bonded with a colony of sandtrout to gain near-immortality and ruled mankind for thirty five hundred years to set humanity upon the Golden Path.
