Warrick was a Fremen of Red Wall Sietch, the blood-brother of Liet-Kynes and first husband of Faroula. Friends from earliest childhood, Warrick shared in the routine and everyday occurrences of Liet's youth, and the two were bound together through the formative episodes of their lives on Arrakis until a Coriolis storm parted them.

Dominic Vernius#

As the two grew into men, Warrick and Liet-Kynes discovered the hidden refuge of the former Earl Dominic Vernius, who had established an underground base in the southern polar region of Arrakis. Caught by the Earl's men while delivering the annual melange tribute to the Spacing Guild, the pair were brought before the renegade nobleman. The exiled leader of House Vernius agreed to spare their lives, and in turn Warrick and Liet agreed to help him better conceal his base. Released by Vernius, the two close friends never spoke of the Antarctic location.

Marriage to Faroula#

As they passed into adulthood, the eyes of both fell upon a young Fremen woman named Faroula, daughter of the Naib of their sietch. Liet confided in Warrick that he had written poetry about her, but the ever-confident Warrick sadly said that Liet would probably never share the words with her, adding that he too was drawn to the young maiden. At length Faroula issued a marriage challenge to both, leaving each a note in his quarters: she could be found in the far-off Cave of Birds, and the first to reach her would be her betrothed.

Warrick summoned a giant sandworm and used his Maker hooks to guide the beast across the sands. He arrived at the cave only moments before Liet, and as Warrick and Faroula pledged their lives to each other, Liet quietly turned away and did not interrupt his friend's moment. Embittered by his loss, Liet left the sietch soon afterward and headed for the Antarctic regions. Warrick and Faroula were married, and within a year their son, Liet-chih, was born.

The Coriolis storm#

A few months later, Liet sent word that he was returning to his extended family and asked Warrick to meet him in the southern polar region. Overjoyed, Warrick went to him, and the two shared a brief reunion. On the way back to their ancient homestead, a fierce Coriolis storm came toward them across the desert. Their sandworm fled deep into the sand as the storm approached, and the only shelter the two could find was a small rock outcropping large enough for a single man.

The lifelong friends argued over who should use it, each knowing the other would almost certainly die in the open. Warrick urged that Liet take the shelter, as the son of Umma Pardot Kynes; Liet demanded that Warrick take it, as he had a wife and child to care for. Unable to settle the matter and with the storm nearly upon them, they cast lots with thrown sticks. Warrick rolled a seven and Liet a nine, but as they argued still, the storm broke over them and Warrick pushed Liet into the enclosure.

Warrick was left critically wounded and blinded, the skin scoured from his face and body. Liet bore him back to the sietch. There Warrick chose to drink the Water of Life in an attempt to learn more of the Lisan al Gaib, and died in the process.
