Tertius Eileen Anteac

Tertius Eileen Anteac was a Bene Gesserit Mentat Reverend Mother and Truthsayer during the last years of the reign of God Emperor Leto Atreides II. By the God Emperor's knowledge she was a descendant of the famous Gaius Helen Mohiam. She bore a scar on her forehead and served faithfully the God Emperor's plans concerning the Ixians.

Training and service to the God Emperor#

In her youth Anteac trained on Wallach IX in a supposedly hidden Mentat school. When Duncan Idaho was sent by the God Emperor to suppress the school, she briefly spoke with him. In 13728 A.G. she traveled to Arrakis together with the Reverend Mother and Truthsayer Marcus Claire Luyseyal for an audience with the God Emperor, coinciding with the Royal Festival held every ten years. She and Luyseyal received word from Othwi Yake, assistant to the Ixian Ambassador, that Face Dancers had infiltrated the Ixian Embassy and planned to assassinate Leto II. The message did not reach Leto's hands in time, though the plot failed regardless, as both women had known it would. They achieved little in their meeting, and Leto took the priceless melange with which they had hoped to test his mortality.

Detecting the Face Dancers#

Leto afterward enlisted Anteac's aid in detecting the Tleilaxu Face Dancers who had replaced almost everyone in the Ixian embassy except the new ambassador, Hwi Noree. During this work Anteac identified the duplicate of Othwi Yake, since the original had been the one to send her the message about the assassination attempt. When Leto's Majordomo Moneo Atreides recognized that Anteac was a secret Mentat, a skill prohibited in the Empire, Leto declared that he already knew and that it amused him.

Hwi Noree shared with Anteac her knowledge of the no-chamber environment in which she had been raised. Anteac, conscripted by Leto to lead a Fish Speaker assault on Ix to wrest the secret of Hwi's origins, was shocked at the news of Leto and Hwi's coming marriage, and annoyed that her order had let a woman as talented as Hwi pass through training without being made a true Bene Gesserit sister.

The invasion of Ix and her legacy#

Anteac led the Fish Speaker invasion of Ix, where they captured Malky, the former Ixian Ambassador. The faithful Anteac died during the mission. Fifteen hundred years later, Duncan Idaho affirmed that Bellonda, advisor to Mother Superior Darwi Odrade and herself a Mentat, was a descendant of Anteac.
