Hasimir Fenring
the Count and Imperial confidant
Count Hasimir Fenring was a deadly assassin and Mentat tactician, a genetic eunuch and failed Kwisatz Haderach, and the closest friend of Emperor Shaddam IV. Invisible to prescient vision, he served as Imperial agent on Arrakis before joining Shaddam in exile.
Count Hasimir Fenring was a renowned assassin and Mentat political tactician, one of the deadliest fighters in the Corrino Imperium. A genetic eunuch and a failed Kwisatz Haderach, and a distaff cousin of House Corrino, he was by all accounts the closest friend of Emperor Shaddam IV.
A failed Kwisatz Haderach#
Fenring was a part of the Bene Gesserit breeding program and one of the Kwisatz Haderach candidates, but was crippled by being a genetic eunuch. His talent concentrated into furtiveness and inner seclusion, rendering him invisible to prescient vision, even to the prescience of one as powerful as Paul Muad'Dib, the first Kwisatz Haderach. He was also a relative of Dalak Fenring, who married Wensicia Corrino. After Shaddam's ascent to the role of Padishah Emperor, Hasimir became his vital adviser, often guiding him away from foolish political decisions.
Service to House Corrino#
During his childhood as cousin to the Crown Prince, Fenring became Shaddam's closest friend, and he was complicit in poisoning the previous Emperor, Elrood IX, to secure Shaddam's accession. During the transition of power on Arrakis between House Harkonnen and House Atreides, Fenring served as interim Governor, finalizing some of the elements that would later prove instrumental in the fall of House Atreides. Between 10191 and 10193 AG he served as Siridar-Absentia of Caladan.
After the Arrakis Affair#
Following the Arrakis Affair, Fenring worked to free Shaddam from the Landsraad's suspicions, an effort that cost more than a billion solaris in spice bribes, slave women, royal honors, and tokens of rank. In 10193 AG he refused Shaddam's order to kill Paul Atreides and instead followed the deposed Emperor into exile on Salusa Secundus, where he spent the last thirty-two years of his life.
In appearance, Hasimir Fenring was a small, short man with a weaselish, ferret-like face, overlarge dark eyes, and gray at the temples.
