Fenring was a part of the Bene Gesserit breeding program and one of the Kwisatz Haderach candidates, but was crippled by being a genetic eunuch. His talent concentrated into furtiveness and inner seclusion, rendering him invisible to prescient vision, even to the prescience of one as powerful as Paul Muad'Dib, the first Kwisatz Haderach. Service to House Corrino#
As a distaff cousin of the Crown Prince, Fenring was Shaddam's childhood companion, and all accounts agreed he was the closest friend Shaddam ever had. The frequently discredited Pirate History of Corrino told the story that Fenring was responsible for the chaumurky that disposed of the previous Emperor, Elrood IX. His Imperial chores included serving as Imperial Agent on Arrakis during the Harkonnen regime, and he and his wife Margot lived in the Arrakeen Residency before House Atreides took over the fief. When Paul defeated the Emperor at Arrakeen, Shaddam ordered Fenring to kill Paul Atreides, and Fenring refused. He later joined the deposed Emperor in retirement on Salusa Secundus. (Dune)

Shaddam Corrino IV was the 81st and final Padishah Emperor of the Corrino Empire. Threatened by the popularity of Duke Leto Atreides, he conspired with House Harkonnen to destroy him, only to be brought down himself by Paul Muad'Dib and the Fremen during the Desert War.
