Giandro Tull
last Viscount of House Tull
Viscount Giandro Tull was the last ruler of House Tull and lord of Elegy. Driven into the Noble Commonwealth conspiracy against House Corrino, he died defending his world from the Sardaukar in a pseudoatomic blast.
Viscount Giandro Tull (d. 10190 AG) was the last Viscount of House Tull and lord of the world Elegy. A man who despised the Bene Gesserit and resented the reach of Shaddam Corrino IV, he was drawn into the Noble Commonwealth conspiracy against House Corrino, and his life became briefly entangled with that of Lady Jessica.
Rise and break with the Sisterhood#
Giandro became Viscount upon the death of his father, Viscount Alfred Tull. He had never liked the Bene Gesserit, nor the way his father's concubine Zoanna had manipulated the old man. As soon as he took the title he cut off the sizable stipend House Tull paid to the Mother School on Wallach IX. When Zoanna attempted to seduce him, he expelled her from Elegy outright and refused every further attempt by the Sisterhood to place a concubine with him.
Drawn into the Noble Commonwealth#
The death of Giandro's friend and business partner Duke Fausto Verdun, together with the razing of Dross, left him humiliated and enraged. He was further insulted when Shaddam Corrino IV dispatched Sardaukar to Elegy to search for any sign of Noble Commonwealth activity. At the time Giandro had no connection to the rebellion, but the murder of his friend and the indignity of the search pushed him to join the growing movement.
Seeking to regain his favor, Mother Superior Harishka recalled Lady Jessica from Caladan and sent her to Elegy to become Giandro's new concubine and persuade him to resume the stipend. Jessica, reluctantly, agreed. Giandro was at first deeply distrustful, but he warmed to her when he saw that she made no attempt to manipulate him, and Jessica in turn found much in the Viscount that reminded her of Duke Leto Atreides. When she learned of a plot against her son Paul, she begged Giandro to let her return to Caladan to save him, and he readily provided transport. After foiling the plot she felt obliged to return and serve him, though they never consummated the relationship. Their bond cooled somewhat once Jessica learned of his ties to the Noble Commonwealth and his supplying of weapons to the violent Jaxson Aru.
Last stand on Elegy#
When Shaddam IV learned the names of the conspirators, he sent the Sardaukar to destroy their Houses and scour their worlds of human life. Seeing Sardaukar troops landing on Elegy, Giandro knew his time was at an end. He sent Jessica and several visiting Bene Gesserit out through a secret passage, hoping they would reach safety far from the manor.
Using prototype shield nullifiers to gain a brief advantage, he cut down dozens of Sardaukar with ancient ballistic rifles, but more kept coming. At the last he raised a lasrifle and fired on an approaching soldier; the reaction between the lasbeam and the Sardaukar's shield set off a pseudoatomic explosion that obliterated the manor house, several kilometers of the surrounding land, and hundreds of Sardaukar. With his death, House Tull came to its end.
