Ingva
chief assistant to the Great Honored Matre Hellica
Ingva was an Honored Matre who served as chief assistant to the Great Honored Matre Hellica on Tleilax during the days before Kralizec. She dominated and tormented the Tleilaxu scribe Uxtal as he grew gholas, and died in the New Sisterhood's assault on Bandalong.
Ingva was an Honored Matre who served as chief assistant to the Great Honored Matre Hellica on the former Tleilaxu world of Tleilax, in the administrative capital of Bandalong, in the days leading to the advent of Kralizec. She was set to oversee the Lost Tleilaxu scribe Uxtal and dominated him utterly, using threats against his life and body to drive his work in the axlotl tanks. She died in the New Sisterhood's assault on Bandalong.
Assigned to Uxtal#
When the Enhanced Face Dancer Khrone brought the Lost Tleilaxu scribe Uxtal to Bandalong and ordered him to grow gholas using the lost practice of the Bene Tleilax axlotl tanks, Hellica assigned Ingva to watch over him. From the moment the two worked together, Ingva dominated Uxtal, threatening his life or his body whenever he fell short in his duties.
Uxtal's first assignment was a ghola of Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, and on its success he was ordered, years later, to grow a ghola of Paul Atreides, whom Khrone named Paolo. When the Harkonnen-child almost killed the Paolo ghola just before it was decanted, Ingva seized Vladimir and quickly administered a sharp punishment. Neither Uxtal nor Ingva was ever told why the gholas mattered, nor that they served the Outside Enemy's design to produce the Ultimate Kwisatz Haderach.
Amal and the Waff gholas#
Uxtal was also set to produce amal, the artificial melange substitute to which the Honored Matres were addicted, and once again it fell to Ingva to threaten and cajole him into working faster. When Hellica afterward demanded true melange, Uxtal admitted before her and the Guild Navigator Edrik that he lacked the knowledge, which only a Tleilaxu Master could hold.
Hellica and Ingva led him into the sub-basements beneath the administrative center and showed him a roomful of emaciated Tleilaxu Masters, the Tylwyth Waffs, hooked to crude milking machines, and agreed that Uxtal could grow Waff gholas under accelerated procedures. Eight were created and raised together at speed, and as they neared maturity they tried repeatedly to trick Uxtal into freeing them. When Edrik returned years later, Hellica ordered Ingva to kill the Waff gholas one after another until the stress triggered the buried memories of the dead Master in a survivor. Ingva killed seven of the eight before the last had his memories partially restored, and his life was spared.
Enslavement and death#
To advance her career and to bind Uxtal to her permanently, Ingva resolved to sexually enslave the scribe. Though she discovered he was a eunuch, he was still held captive by her conditioning. Soon afterward the New Sisterhood, led by its ruthless Valkyrie units under the commanders Kiria and Janess Idaho, launched a secret assault inside Bandalong, while the Bashar Wikki Aztin attacked from above and destroyed the Honored Matres' defensive ships. Ingva joined the desperate, losing fight, and Uxtal, driven by his bondage to her, took up a weapon and fought as well.
Ingva was soon mortally wounded, left with a great open gash in her abdomen, and lay half dead and moaning in the rubble of the administrative center. There Uxtal rediscovered her. The half-dead Ingva demanded that he stop and free her, but seeing her mortal wound he instead stepped on her windpipe until she died, and was free of her at last.
