Andvari's Hammer: the lost tool of the master smith

Andvari's Hammer was a smithing tool that once belonged to Andvari, the renowned Dwarven alchemist and master smith who counted Brok among his oldest friends. Long after Andvari vanished, Kratos brought the hammer up out of the deep mines at Brok's asking. (God of War (2018))

A tool of Andvari#

The hammer was the work and possession of Andvari, a renowned alchemist and master smith among the Dwarves. Andvari had been an old friend of the smith Brok, and the in-game description calls the hammer a thing of value to Brok. (God of War (2018))

Before his disappearance, Andvari concealed many of his tools deep within the mines, the hammer among them, hidden away with the rest of his craft. (God of War (2018))

Recovered from the mines#

Long after Andvari was gone and believed dead, Brok sought any trace of his lost friend. He came to suspect that Andvari had locked his soul inside his ring before he died, and that he had stashed a great many of his tools within the Landsuther Mines, including a special hammer. Brok asked Kratos to find it for him, as the favour Deus Ex Malachite. (God of War (2018))

Kratos descended into the depths of the mines, through chambers infested with creatures and dark elves, until he came at last upon the hammer sealed away in a chest. He bore it back to Brok, who paid him with an unexpected reward: Andvari's Soul, an enchantment made from his old friend. (God of War (2018))
