Pelessaria B'Sayle: Asari Remnant Researcher

Pelessaria B'Sayle, almost always known by the nickname Peebee, was a young asari adventurer who came to the Heleus Cluster with the Andromeda Initiative. Restless, intelligent, and socially blunt, she was a self-described lone wolf with a particular gift for studying the technology of the Remnant. She left the Nexus soon after arrival to explore on her own before crossing paths with the Pathfinder's team, which she eventually joined aboard the starship Tempest.

A restless Maiden#

Peebee gave her age as roughly a century, young for an asari and squarely within the restless Maiden phase of asari life, though few asari in that stage went so far as to travel to another galaxy. She combined a very high intelligence with a fierce streak of individualism, and she was prone to bluntness in her dealings with others.

She came from Port Lerama on Hyetiana. Her mother had her late in life, and she had at least one older half-sister, separated from her by some five centuries in age. Raised chiefly by her mother and that sister, Peebee grew bored of the Milky Way and joined the Andromeda Initiative together with her then-partner Kalinda T'Reve.

Arrival in Andromeda#

Peebee was woken from stasis very shortly after the Initiative reached the Heleus Cluster, revived by Kalinda, who was among the first wave unfrozen. Because the revival was unauthorized, Peebee lived off the grid for a time, working her way onto exploratory missions away from the Nexus. After discovering her first Remnant ruin she began borrowing shuttles and spent so much time away from the station that she missed most of the failed uprising that convulsed the Nexus in its early days.

Kalinda helped her obtain identifying documents and access to resources and drew her into a social circle, but the relationship became emotionally abusive. Kalinda ended it on her own terms and vanished, at roughly the same time that Peebee turned in earnest to the study of Remnant ruins.

Joining the Pathfinder#

Peebee first encountered the Pathfinder at a Remnant monolith on Eos, where she tackled them to the ground and prompted their squadmates to draw their weapons. Having studied the technology for months, she knew the monolith's glyphs had to be allowed to cycle so that its systems could stabilize, and once it activated it pinged the other Remnant structures in the region. Working alongside the Pathfinder's team to fend off Remnant machines, she helped trace a path through the local vault, racing ahead on her own at every opportunity.

Convinced that the Pathfinder offered a genuine means to interface with the Remnant, Peebee decided to join the team and took up residence aboard the Tempest, converting an escape pod near the bridge into her personal quarters. Though restless and prone to keeping one foot out the door, she gradually came to regard the crew as family.

Remnant research and Poc#

Peebee's chief contribution was her expertise with the Remnant. She succeeded in reprogramming a Remnant Observer that she nicknamed Poc, short for proof of concept, and the work gave her the knowledge to build Remnant constructs to aid the Pathfinder. She also sought to expand the team's scanners so they could detect every form of Remnant technology in the cluster, gathering pieces of Remnant tech to perfect the device.

Her efforts were repeatedly complicated by her former partner Kalinda T'Reve, who resurfaced as a rival. Kalinda's mercenaries competed for the same Remnant artifacts, and at one point she stole and damaged Poc, taunting Peebee afterward. Peebee recovered and repaired the Observer, though Kalinda's lingering influence continued to trouble her, a wound she eventually came to terms with as she committed herself fully to the crew of the Tempest.
