Nyon
the Tal'darim executor
Nyon was an executor of the Tal'darim who guarded sacred xel'naga relics during the Second Great War. He suffered a long string of defeats to Raynor's Raiders as they stole the components of a xel'naga device, and he died aboard his mothership trying to stop them.
Nyon was an executor of the Tal'darim, the faction of fanatical protoss who worshipped the xel'naga and guarded their relics. During the Second Great War he led the defense of many of the sites holding the components of a xel'naga device, and his repeated clashes with Raynor's Raiders ended in his death.
A guardian of xel'naga relics#
Nyon was an executor of the Tal'darim, a fanatical protoss faction devoted to the xel'naga. According to Highlord Alarak, Nyon extracted terrazine until he lost his mind, a fate Alarak considered worse than death.
The terrazine found on Bel'Shir was sacred to the Tal'darim. During the Second Great War, Raynor's Raiders were hired by Gabriel Tosh to steal some of the gas from the protoss shrines. Nyon oversaw the local Tal'darim presence, but neither his threats nor his attempts to seal the shrines could prevent the Raiders from taking enough terrazine for Tosh's plans. He refused to negotiate, ordering the faithful to evict the interlopers by force.
Defending the artifacts#
The outbreak of the Second Great War was driven by a hunt for the components of a xel'naga device, and Nyon led the Tal'darim guarding many of the component sites. He suffered a long string of defeats at the hands of Raynor's Raiders as the terrans stole each component in turn.
A Moebius Foundation expedition found a component in a xel'naga temple on Xil but was destroyed by the Tal'darim before it could finish the excavation. The Raiders followed and completed the work despite Nyon's attempt to destroy them. At the battle's end the executor warned Jim Raynor of his day of reckoning, unnerving him, and correctly predicted that the terrans would try to steal the component on Typhon XI.
When the Raiders arrived on Typhon XI, Nyon was waiting. He refused to back down even as the local star approached a supernova, judging the sacrifice of his troops worth the destruction of the sacrilegious terrans. The Raiders defeated his forces and claimed the artifact, and as they escaped he again vowed revenge.
Death aboard the worldship#
The final component lay on a derelict xel'naga worldship, and Raynor's Raiders raided it as they had the others. As the terrans closed in on the vault, Nyon entered the battle in person aboard a powerful mothership and confronted them. Once again he failed to stop Jim Raynor. The Raiders destroyed the mothership and killed Nyon, who remained antagonistic to the end, branding the Raiders fools and declaring that his spirit would go to the xel'naga.
