The Toa Hordika's Return for the Matoran Spheres
The campaign that brought the mutated Toa Metru back into Visorak-occupied Metru Nui to recover the sealed Matoran spheres, find Keetongu, and break the hordes' grip on the city long enough to evacuate every Matoran to the surface of Mata Nui.

Frequently asked questions
- What was the Great Rescue?
- The Great Rescue was the second Metru Nui operation of the original Toa Metru, in which they returned to Visorak-occupied Metru Nui to free the rest of the Matoran population still sealed in spheres and evacuate them to the surface. It was the second half of a job their first escape during the Great Cataclysm had left unfinished.
- How did the Toa Metru become the Toa Hordika?
- After crash landing near Le-Metru, the Toa were hit by the Visorak's paralysing Rhotuka spinners and wrapped in cocoons hung above the streets, where the venom in the webbing mutated them. They emerged as the Toa Hordika, bestial half-Rahi versions of themselves with Rhotuka launchers built into their arms.
- Who were the Rahaga and what did they tell the Toa Hordika?
- The Rahaga were six diminutive hunter-figures, led by Norik, who had spent years living in Metru Nui's sewers and webs. They pulled the falling cocooned Toa to safety, explained the mutation, and told them the cure was a mythical sage Rahi called Keetongu.
- How did Sidorak die during the Great Rescue?
- Keetongu faced Sidorak in single combat at the centre of the Coliseum, the seat of Visorak command. Sidorak was killed by the Rahi he had once attempted to hunt for his trophy hall.
- How did the Toa Metru become Turaga?
- After Keetongu reversed the Hordika mutation on the surface, the Toa Metru each chose to pour their elemental power into the spheres to wake the Matoran inside. This deliberate act of self-reduction transformed them into Turaga.
