The strange part is that he's technically not the original anymore. The first one died in the Great Cataclysm. The Hydraxon alive after the earthquake was the MatoranMatoranThe most abundant species in the Matoran Universe, chosen by Mata Nui to inhabit and maintain his cosmic body. DekarDekarDekar is a former Po-Matoran who serves as an Aqua Hunter on Spherus Magna. Colored yellow, black, and silver, he once wore a powerless Kiril and retains an inactive Stone element; his tools are Electro-Blades and an Air Launcher., transformed by the Mask of Life into a complete duplicate of the jailer.

A Jailer With Standards#

Hydraxon ran the Pit like he actually believed in the job. He wasn't cruel for cruelty's sake, but he didn't coddle prisoners either. Training the Toa#

After the Toa Mata journeyed to the Pit, Hydraxon became their trainer, and he didn't hold back. The Duplicate Question#

The original Hydraxon died when the Great Cataclysm hit the Pit. The current one isn't a resurrection in the traditional sense. He's a duplicate created by the Mask of Life when it transformed DekarDekarDekar is a former Po-Matoran who serves as an Aqua Hunter on Spherus Magna. This makes him functionally identical to the original but technically a different being wearing the same purpose. The canon doesn't make a big deal out of that philosophical weirdness, and neither does Hydraxon. He just does the job.
