Surel was badly injured during the fighting and was left behind, bent and broken, when the conflict moved on. The Shattering struck amid the war, breaking the world apart, and Surel took refuge in the White Quartz Mountains. The Iron Wolves stayed by his side, bringing him food and protecting him from harm while many in the mountains would have done him further harm. He never rejoined his tribe after the Shattering.
Years later, the AgoriAgoriThe villager species of Bara Magna, organised by tribe and settlement, who governed their villages and arranged the Glatorian arena system. Tarduk, Crotesius, and Kirbold passed through the White Quartz Mountains and were followed by wolves from Surel's pack. After failed attempts to distract the wolves, the three Agori ended up in the wolves' lair, where Surel appeared and commanded the pack to relax. He warned the travelers that the Core War had never truly ended for the Element Lords, beings of fearsome power and former leaders of entire armies.
Moments later the Element Lord of Ice triggered an avalanche over the valley, an attack aimed at the Element Lord of FireElement Lord of FireFormer Glatorian of the Fire Tribe, remade by the Great Beings into an immortal being of pure flame, ruler of the Fire Tribe through the Core War, and the elemental claimant whose feud with the Element Lord of Ice broke open again in the White Quartz Mountains.. The avalanche was melted and vaporized before it struck the ground, and the wolves retreated. Surel is counted among the GlatorianGlatorianTribal warriors of Spherus Magna who settled disputes through arena combat, until the Skrall conquest enslaved most of them. by species rather than by occupation.
