The Shadowed One
The Shadowed One is the leader of the Dark Hunters, a black, yellow, and silver figure based on Spherus Magna. Armed with a staff and a Rhotuka, the Shadowed One directs the organization.
The Shadowed One is the master of the Dark HuntersThe Dark HuntersA mercenary organization founded on Odina by The Shadowed One and Ancient, contracted across the Matoran Universe for assassination and theft, and ultimately reduced to a battered remnant by the fall of the universe itself., commanding the organization as its leader. He is the mortal enemy of the Makuta, and his pursuits range across theft, assassination, and conquest. His old friend Ancient is among the Hunters who served under him.
The Shadowed One ruled the Dark Hunters from a fortress capable of reshaping itself into a stone hedge-maze to trap intruders. When Zaktan led a group of five other Skakdi, Vezok, Reidak, Hakann, and Thok, into the fortress in a plot to overthrow him, they were caught as the structure transformed and were brought before him. Learning of Zaktan's role as the ringleader, the Shadowed One attempted to punish him by activating his disintegration eyebeams, but the attack backfired and Zaktan's body broke apart into countless tiny creatures.
In dealings with the Brotherhood of MakutaThe Brotherhood of MakutaAn organization of Makuta created by Mata Nui to police his universe and build Rahi, later seized by Teridax and turned into the instrument of the Plan that overthrew the Great Spirit., the Shadowed One had the Makoki Stone stolen back, split it into six smaller pieces, and sold them to the Brotherhood. He also ordered Roodaka to mutate the former Dark Hunter Nidhiki into one of his largest fears, an insectoid creature.
After two of his operatives, Nidhiki and Krekka, were killed, the Shadowed One concluded that Toa were responsible and set off for Metru NuiMetru NuiThe city beneath Mata Nui functions as the Great Spirit's brain, housing the Matoran whose labor keeps the god alive. with Sentrakh to make them pay. There, when Voporak handed over the recovered Kanohi Vahi, the Shadowed One took possession of the Mask of Time. Believing Vakama responsible for the deaths, he and Sentrakh observed the Toa as they moved through the Great Temple.
Later, the Order of Mata Nui dispatched the Shadowed One and his people to occupy the island of XiaXiaA hostile island southeast of Metru Nui, home to the Vortixx and their brutal mercenary culture.. During this period, Ancient received an urgent message and resolved to seek out his old friend and try to make him see the only possible future for the Dark Hunters, knowing that if the Shadowed One failed to see reason, Ancient would have to kill him. The Shadowed One keeps the most valuable treasures of the Dark Hunters near his throne, including weapons taken in their work.
