Amulet of Uroborus: the gem that bent time
the time-warping relic of the Oracle Aletheia
The Amulet of Uroborus was a golden amulet set with a blue-green gem that could manipulate time and space. Stolen from the Oracle Aletheia and turned against Kratos, it passed into his hands and let him rebuild what had been broken.
The Amulet of Uroborus was a golden amulet set around a blue-green gem with power over time and space. Stolen from the Oracle Aletheia and turned against Kratos, it came at last into his own hands, and with it he could decay structures into ruin or raise the broken back to wholeness.
The gem of the Oracle#
The Amulet of Uroborus was a golden amulet built around a blue-green gem, able to manipulate time in a variety of ways. It had once been known as the Life Cycle. Its power lay chiefly in command over the age and state of things: it could decay enormous structures into ruin or rebuild them whole, raising broken pieces back into their proper places, and it could turn ruin back into form to open paths that had been closed.
The amulet belonged to the Oracle Aletheia, who kept it in Delphi, near the most important Oracle temple in Greece. From her it was stolen by the false prophets Castor and Pollux.
Claimed by Kratos#
Castor and Pollux turned the amulet's power against Kratos, but he defeated the brothers and claimed it for himself. He tried to heal the mortally wounded Aletheia with it, but she told him it could not mend her wounds, and he let her die in peace, though not before she revealed to him the plans of the Furies and the way to the Statue of Apollo.
With the amulet in hand, Kratos used its power to decay and to rebuild as he made his way onward, restoring ruined structures to clear his path. Among these, on the island of Delos, he reconstructed a structure that had earlier been brought down by the Fury Alecto.
The final use#
After Kratos was captured by the Furies, the Amulet of Uroborus was held by the Fury Megaera. Following his escape from the Prison of the Damned, Kratos killed Megaera and reclaimed the amulet, using it to rebuild several of the prison's structures. He turned to it one last time in the final battle, calling on its power to stop Alecto's tentacles from striking him.
