Avalon was a hidden land of the Fae, lying far beyond the Nine Realms and ruled by the faerie King Oberon and his queen Titania. It was the homeland of Mimir before he ever set foot in the Norse world, a place known to Kratos and Atreus only through the stories Mimir told of his long-vanished past.
A realm of the Fae#
Avalon was a land apart, the home of the Fae and a place the Norse gods themselves never reached. It was ruled by King Oberon, lord of the Fae, and his wife Titania. Its existence was known in the Nine Realms chiefly through the accounts of Mimir, who spoke of it as his birthplace and the court he had once served.
The land was peopled by the Fae and by the band of tricksters known as the Goodfellows, among them Peaseblossom, Mustardseed, Cobweb, and Moth. Mimir counted himself among their number in those days.
Mimir's service to Oberon#
Mimir served King Oberon for many years as an errand boy and unofficial jester. He delighted in causing mischief among the humans, conduct that most of the other Fae considered a crime worthy of severe punishment. Oberon, however, tolerated it, for he found Mimir's actions entertaining.
In time the King grew bored of the chaos that Mimir and his kin stirred up. Fearing that Oberon might finally decide to punish him for his crimes, Mimir chose to leave his homeland behind. His wanderings eventually carried him into the Nine Realms, where he would live out the long centuries that followed under a very different fate. In those earlier days he had been known by other names, Puck and Robin of the Goodfellows among them, before the wider Norse world came to call him simply Mimir.
