Ogre
the brutish beasts of Midgard
The Ogres were burly, savage monsters of the Nine Realms, hulking brutes with tusks and crushing strength who roamed the outskirts of Midgard. Carnivorous and fierce, they were among the most dangerous beasts Kratos and Atreus faced.
The Ogres were a species of burly, powerful, brutal monsters that roamed the Norse realms, hulking brutes with tusks and crushing strength encountered by Kratos and Atreus across Midgard. Among the most dangerous beasts of their journey, they were beings of raw might and savage hunger.
Appearance#
The Ogre looked like a monstrous blend of gorilla, troll, and boar, a hulking brute with tusks, leathery skin, and crushing strength. It towered over Kratos yet stood shorter and more compact than a Troll, with an enormous chest, shoulders, and arms built for raw power, moving hunched forward on long, powerful limbs in an animalistic manner. Its face was flat and ape-like, with a wide mouth, heavy jaw, and large tusks rising from the lower jaw, and its small, glowing eyes sat deep beneath a heavy brow, more beastly than intelligent. Many bore short horns or bony protrusions on their skulls. Their skin was thick, leathery, and scarred, sometimes cracked like dried mud or rock, in earthy tones of gray, brown, or reddish hue. Unlike the elementally bound Trolls, the Ogres looked more flesh and blood.
Nature and habits#
Ogres dwelt in various outskirts of Midgard and were generally extremely aggressive toward any mortals who crossed their path. Their diet was carnivorous, and one was seen feeding on a human corpse. Though Atreus judged them giant, powerful, and angry but thankfully not very smart, they were not without intelligence, for like the Trolls they possessed their own native language. The first Ogre that Kratos and Atreus met spoke in that tongue, bursting from a gate in the mountains to warn them to turn back; when Atreus stabbed it in the eyes it cried out in pain and fell on the two gods, and Kratos brought its rampage to an end.
Powers and the fiercer kind#
The Ogres ranked among the most dangerous beasts Kratos and Atreus encountered, second only to the Trolls. They attacked by swinging their massive arms, charging headlong, and smashing the ground to send out shockwaves, and they could seize lesser creatures nearby and hurl them as weapons. The most powerful among them could grab Kratos and slam him into the earth. Beyond the common gray-skinned kind there was a more dangerous counterpart, the Fierce Ogre, more violent and erratic, marked by blood-red coloring and reptilian skin, able to leap great distances to strike from above. In the time of Ragnarok, two Ogres fought in the army of Odin in Asgard, and in Vanaheim a creature called the Corpse Eater was seen to seize and devour an Ogre that Kratos had been about to slay.
