Triton was a Colonial battlestar that served after the First Cylon War and was destroyed during the opening engagements of the Fall of the Twelve Colonies.
The Triton was a battlestar in service to the Colonial Fleet in the years following the First Cylon War. When the Cylons attacked the Twelve Colonies, she was among the battlestars reported lost in the opening wave of an offensive that had already cost the Fleet a quarter of its 120 battlestars and destroyed Fleet Headquarters on Picon. Service history#
The Triton served in the Colonial Fleet after the First Cylon War and belonged to Battlestar Group 39. At some point Commander James Jonasson held command of the vessel. During his tenure, Kara Thrace served aboard as a Viper pilot, and Jonasson filed disciplinary charges against her, an incident later recorded in her personnel file. The Fall of the Twelve Colonies#
Triton was still in service at the Fall of the Twelve Colonies, fitted with integrated command and control systems and Gaius Baltar's Command Navigation Program. Lieutenant Alex Quartararo, an Electronic Countermeasures Officer, was part of her crew. After the destruction of Picon Fleet Headquarters in the first wave of the Cylon offensive, Admiral Nagala took personal command of the Fleet aboard Atlantia. Word soon reached Galactica that the Atlantia had been destroyed, and with her the Triton, the Columbia and the Solaria. (Battlestar Galactica miniseries; Battlestar Galactica, "33")
Aftermath#
Quartararo survived the destruction of the battlestar and later turned up in the civilian fleet guarded by Galactica as it fled the destruction of the Twelve Colonies, where Sharon Valerii called him a refugee from Triton. He still wore a patch bearing the ship's name on the upper left arm of his flight suit, a small memorial to a ship lost in the opening hours of the war. (Battlestar Galactica, "33")
