In the Original Series continuity, the Columbia was a Colonial battlestar that fought in the Thousand Yahren War against the Cylon Alliance. By the close of that war it was one of the few battlestars left to attend the armistice talks over Cimtar, a gathering that turned out to be the prelude to a devastating Cylon strike in which the Columbia was destroyed.
Service and destruction#
The Columbia served the Colonial Fleet throughout the long Thousand Yahren War against the Cylon Alliance. By the time peace seemed at hand, attrition had reduced the battlestar fleet to a handful of ships, and the Columbia was among the few that remained to represent the Colonies.
The Colonial leadership accepted Cylon overtures for an armistice and sent its surviving battlestars to the talks held over Cimtar. The gathering was a trap. The Cylons launched a massive strike against the assembled fleet, and the Columbia was destroyed in the attack. Cadet Cree was one of the few who survived the loss of the ship, and he was later picked up by the battlestar Galactica.
Original Series continuity#
This Columbia belongs to the Original Series continuity, in which the Colonies fought the Thousand Yahren War and were betrayed at the Cimtar armistice. It is distinct from the battlestars of the same name in the Reimagined Series continuity.
