Agil was called upon by Ekimu when Umarak, under the control of MakutaMakutaA glossary entry distinguishing the three referents of the word Makuta: the species, the individual Teridax, and the title held by every Brotherhood member., began raising the Elemental Beasts and gathering the pieces of Makuta's mask. When the Shadow Horde attacked the Ancient City, Ekimu summoned Agil and entered a chamber in the shrine of the Temple of Light, where he was infused with the power of Light and transformed into a Toa-like form.
Ekimu then led the Toa to confront Umarak at the Black Volcano. There he and Agil combined forces to unleash a blast of Light upon Umarak the Destroyer, freeing the Toa from his Shadow and returning Ekimu to his original form. The Light energies of Ekimu and Agil, channeled together against Umarak, were among the forces that reopened the portal at the Black Volcano leading to the Shadow Realm.
