Frequently asked questions
- What were the Archives of Metru Nui?
- The Archives of Onu-Metru were the central repository of Matoran knowledge and Rahi specimens within Metru Nui. Maintained by the Archivist Corps under the Chief Archivist and the oversight of Turaga Dume, the facility extended through multiple subterranean levels and combined the functions of a library, a containment vault, and a research site.
- How were the Archives secured?
- Each entrance was secured by a rotating three-lever lock whose combination changed daily and was known only to the Vahki and guards on duty. Security relied on restricted access, the rotating locks, and Vahki patrols, a system effective under normal conditions but dependent on the structural integrity of the surrounding facility.
- What happened to the Archives during the Great Cataclysm?
- The Great Cataclysm caused widespread damage, shattering stasis tubes across multiple levels and releasing Rahkshi, Muaka, and other contained Rahi into the corridors. Many Matoran were lost during the collapse and follow-up sweeps, and the Vahki patrols ceased afterward.
- How were the Archives restored?
- The Staff of Artakha was eventually used to restore the structure, rebuilding the damaged walls and returning the surviving specimens to their stasis tubes. The Toa Hagah were then assigned to stabilise the facility, patrolling Onu-Metru and working alongside the surviving Archivists, though several sections were never fully resecured.
- What happened to the Archives in the end?
- When the Matoran Universe collapsed and the surviving population reached Spherus Magna, the Archives were decommissioned. The catalogued artifacts, records, and surviving Rahi were relocated to a new repository constructed on the surface of the reunited planet, and the original Metru Nui site was left empty.
