For years they preyed on trade caravans and villages across Bara MagnaBara MagnaA desert world of tribal warfare and scarce resources, one of three landmasses that formed Spherus Magna.'s desert, killing for supplies, weapons, and food. When MetusMetusMetus was a transformed Agori from Spherus Magna who worked as a Glatorian recruiter. Originally a member of the Ice Tribe, he later joined the Rock Tribe. White and ice blue in coloration, Metus wielded an Ice Axe and an Ice Shield. persuaded them to ally with the SkrallSkrallA black-armored warrior species from Spherus Magna that dominated northern Bara Magna under Tuma's rule., those raids became organized military conquest powerful enough to threaten every tribe on the continent.

Desert Predators#

Bone Hunters operated across Bara MagnaBara MagnaA desert world of tribal warfare and scarce resources, one of three landmasses that formed Spherus Magna.'s wasteland with a culture entirely their own. They hunted trade caravans and villages with brutal purpose. Food, weapons, tools: anything of value became targets for their raids, and they killed witnesses to prevent retaliation. They also captured GlatorianGlatorianTribal warriors of Spherus Magna who settled disputes through arena combat, until the Skrall conquest enslaved most of them. and AgoriAgoriThe villager species of Bara Magna, organised by tribe and settlement, who governed their villages and arranged the Glatorian arena system. alive, selling captives to the SkrallSkrallA black-armored warrior species from Spherus Magna that dominated northern Bara Magna under Tuma's rule. for combat in the arenas at RoxtusRoxtusThe largest Agori village on Bara Magna and the seat of Tuma's Skrall, Roxtus was the centre of the Empire of the Skrall until Mata Nui defeated Tuma in single combat.. ThornaxThornaxThornax was a hardy desert fruit native to Bara Magna, eaten unripe as stew and fired ripe from launchers across Glatorian and Skrall ranks. stew was their primary food source.

FeroFeroA senior Bone Hunter who rode the Rock Steed Skirmix, served briefly under the Skrall alliance, and survived the reformation of Spherus Magna. exemplified the Bone Hunter archetype. In "The CrossingThe CrossingThe Bara Magna serial in which Strakk, Gresh, Kirbold, and Tarduk carried an exsidian shipment from Iconox to Vulcanus along the dangerous northern route and uncovered the first Skrall and Vorox confrontations of the empire era.," he survived encounters with VoroxVoroxThe warrior caste of the Sand Tribe, reduced to feral pack hunters in the wastes of Bara Magna after the collapse of their civilisation in the Core War. and catastrophic accidents, revealing the species' capacity for endurance honed in the wasteland. The Bone Hunters spoke their own language, guttural and scratchy. They rode Rock Steeds, creatures bred for desert combat that made them genuinely dangerous as individuals.

The Skrall Alliance and Collapse#

The critical moment came when MetusMetusMetus was a transformed Agori from Spherus Magna who worked as a Glatorian recruiter. Originally a member of the Ice Tribe, he later joined the Rock Tribe. White and ice blue in coloration, Metus wielded an Ice Axe and an Ice Shield. persuaded the Bone Hunter leadership to ally with the SkrallSkrallA black-armored warrior species from Spherus Magna that dominated northern Bara Magna under Tuma's rule.. For a time, the partnership was devastating. Bone Hunter and SkrallSkrallA black-armored warrior species from Spherus Magna that dominated northern Bara Magna under Tuma's rule. warriors operating together could overwhelm settlements that would have been untouchable to either group alone. TumaTumaTuma rose from the survivors of the Baterra massacre to rule the Skrall Empire from Roxtus until Mata Nui defeated him in single combat.'s vision of continental conquest brought Bara MagnaBara MagnaA desert world of tribal warfare and scarce resources, one of three landmasses that formed Spherus Magna. to the brink of domination.

Mata NuiMata Nui (Location)An island created by accident on the Great Spirit's face, home to the Matoran for a thousand years. broke this alliance through military action and diplomacy, uniting the tribes against both forces. After the SkrallSkrallA black-armored warrior species from Spherus Magna that dominated northern Bara Magna under Tuma's rule. were defeated, the Bone Hunters returned to nomadic existence, diminished but unbroken. Their culture survived outside RoxtusRoxtusThe largest Agori village on Bara Magna and the seat of Tuma's Skrall, Roxtus was the centre of the Empire of the Skrall until Mata Nui defeated Tuma in single combat., returning to the scattered raids that had defined them for generations.
