This massive, serpentine beast dwelled near Ta-MetruTa-MetruThe fire district where Ta-Matoran perfected their craft and powered Metru Nui's industry for thousands of years. and would snake through the skies above Metru NuiMetru NuiThe city beneath Mata Nui functions as the Great Spirit's brain, housing the Matoran whose labor keeps the god alive., blackening the heavens and shedding a constant fall of soot as it flew. What makes it truly weird is what covered its body: scale-like objects that might be actual KanohiKanohiMasks that grant powers and sustain life, they're the most vital artifact in the Matoran Universe. masks, possibly designed to lure victims, or else just armor that resembled masks. The ambiguity is deliberate and deeply unsettling. Nobody's certain which, and that uncertainty is exactly what the design nails. The creature was feared enough that entire eras of MatoranMatoranThe most abundant species in the Matoran Universe, chosen by Mata Nui to inhabit and maintain his cosmic body. history centered on keeping it away.

The Forgotten Terror#

Toa LhikanLhikanToa of Fire, leader of the Toa Mangai, and the last Toa of Metru Nui, who surrendered his Toa Power to create the Toa Metru and died defending Vakama. faced this creature long before the Toa MetruMetruIn the Matoran language a metru was a single district of Metru Nui; the city was divided into six such districts, one for each element, and the term covered both the place and the elemental community that lived in it. ever set foot in the city, marking one of the most perilous encounters of his career. This was a brutal clash of titans that tore the island apart. The destruction was catastrophic. The dragon's ultimate fate after Xia remains obscure. Its impact, however, is clear. It's the kind of existential threat that shapes generations, kept at bay by effort and silence alike.
