The Dark Hunter Who Sold Varian Out

A shapeshifter with no confirmed appearance, a habit of pocketing what he was paid to fetch, and one canonical betrayal that put a Toa of Psionics in a stasis tube.

His appearance was never described and his powers were mostly unknown. The shapeshifting was confirmed, the bad attitude was implied, and much of his standing among the Dark Hunters came from the fact that even LariskaLariskaDark Hunter defined by discipline and tactical competence, Lariska was one of the Shadowed One's most dependable operatives before joining Brutaka's desperate mission. wanted to be rid of him.

His appearance and powers were unknown, with the single confirmed exception that he could shapeshift, a confirmation that came from his operations rather than from any combat scene.

His defining habit was unreliability around payment. He had a tendency to keep objects he had been sent to retrieve, rather than handing them over to his employer. The KeetonguKeetonguThe legendary Rahi who broke the Visorak siege and lived to prove he was worth the legend. retcon#

One piece of the Triglax canon comes from a publishing error. The 2006 guidebook BIONICLEBIONICLE: Matoran AdventuresA 2002 GBA platformer where you play as one of six Matoran fighting Bohrok across Mata Nui's islands.: Dark Hunters featured KeetonguKeetonguThe legendary Rahi who broke the Visorak siege and lived to prove he was worth the legend. on its cover, despite KeetonguKeetonguThe legendary Rahi who broke the Visorak siege and lived to prove he was worth the legend. not being a Dark Hunter. The solution written into canon after the fact was that the figure on the cover was not actually KeetonguKeetonguThe legendary Rahi who broke the Visorak siege and lived to prove he was worth the legend. but Triglax in disguise as KeetonguKeetonguThe legendary Rahi who broke the Visorak siege and lived to prove he was worth the legend., on a job. That made Triglax one of the few characters whose canonical visual reference is the wrong figure on a book cover.

It also marks the upper bound of his recorded shapeshifting. Imitating a species like the Hordika-curing KeetonguKeetonguThe legendary Rahi who broke the Visorak siege and lived to prove he was worth the legend. well enough to fool people who had seen him before was a higher bar than passing as a generic Toa. Whether the copy was visual only or extended to powers was not recorded.

What's missing#

Triglax had no confirmed combat scene, no confirmed kill, and no confirmed appearance outside the impersonation jobs. He did not appear in the Bara MagnaBara MagnaA desert world of tribal warfare and scarce resources, one of three landmasses that formed Spherus Magna. endgame, received no death scene or defection scene, and did not surface in any later material. His last canonical mention was in the unfinished No One Gets Left Behind serial.

He was a Dark Hunters character defined almost entirely by indirect work. A confirmed shapeshifter whose face was never shown was the kind of operative the Shadowed One kept around for the jobs no other Hunter could pull. Whether his unreliability ever got him killed, the Matoran UniverseMatoran UniverseA civilization of biomechanical beings living inside a colossal robot, destroyed when Teridax seized control. ran out of pages before the question was answered.
