Scarabax
Small desert beetles of Bara Magna, welcomed as helpful scavengers by most Agori but dismissed as vermin by the Skrall.

Scarabax beetles might be small, but they're everywhere on Bara MagnaBara MagnaA desert world of tribal warfare and scarce resources, one of three landmasses that formed Spherus Magna.. Most AgoriAgoriThe villager species of Bara Magna, organised by tribe and settlement, who governed their villages and arranged the Glatorian arena system. consider them helpful scavengers that clean the desert, though the SkrallSkrallA black-armored warrior species from Spherus Magna that dominated northern Bara Magna under Tuma's rule. view them as nothing more than vermin. What makes these creatures interesting isn't their individual threat level but their behavior when they gather. A Scarabax alone is easy enough to avoid or dismiss. A Scarabax swarm is something else entirely. Hundreds of them moving together become a genuine force to reckon with.
What Are Scarabax?#
Scarabax are small insectoid creatures that inhabit the deserts of Bara MagnaBara MagnaA desert world of tribal warfare and scarce resources, one of three landmasses that formed Spherus Magna.. They're small enough that a single beetle poses little threat, but their shells are hard as rock, making them dangerous in large numbers. The SkrallSkrallA black-armored warrior species from Spherus Magna that dominated northern Bara Magna under Tuma's rule. view them as mere vermin. Most AgoriAgoriThe villager species of Bara Magna, organised by tribe and settlement, who governed their villages and arranged the Glatorian arena system., by contrast, accept them as a fact of desert life. GreshGreshA young Glatorian of the Jungle Tribe who served Tesara and later joined the alliance that defended Bara Magna during its final crisis.'s run-in with a swarm in the underground tunnels beneath Bara MagnaBara MagnaA desert world of tribal warfare and scarce resources, one of three landmasses that formed Spherus Magna. showed just how quickly these beetles can overwhelm an unprepared target. They react violently to sudden movements, which made avoiding them a matter of careful footwork and patience.
The Roxtus Swarm#
During the Battle of RoxtusRoxtusThe largest Agori village on Bara Magna and the seat of Tuma's Skrall, Roxtus was the centre of the Empire of the Skrall until Mata Nui defeated Tuma in single combat., a massive congregation of Scarabax gathered and arranged themselves into a structure that resembled the shape of MalumMalumFire Tribe Glatorian exiled from Vulcanus for arena killings, who became the warlord of a Vorox pack in the wastelands of Bara Magna., the fierce GlatorianGlatorianTribal warriors of Spherus Magna who settled disputes through arena combat, until the Skrall conquest enslaved most of them. of the Fire TribeFire TribeThe master smiths of Bara Magna who forged tools for all tribes before the Shattering scattered them into conflict.. The beetles held this formation briefly before scattering again as the battle's chaos intensified. Whether this was conscious mimicry, a response to the violent movements of the combatants, or pure coincidence remains unclear. The implication is intriguing: either the beetles have some rudimentary collective intelligence or their swarming behavior simply echoed the shape of the largest moving thing nearby.
