A craftswoman of the deep#
The Lady of the Forge was a mermaid who had made her home within the waters of Svartalfheim, residing there for what may have been centuries. Her origins were unknown. She was a mysterious and powerful being who kept to the depths of her underwater forge, and she was renowned for the quality of the things she made, enough to impress even the dwarves native to the realm, who were themselves the finest smiths in all the Nine Realms. Brok named her the most magical creature in the entire kingdom.
The forging of the Draupnir Spear#
The Lady was seen but once, when she created the Draupnir Spear for Kratos. Her true name was never spoken. With her gift for magical blacksmithing she melded resources together to craft weapons of exceptional power, and the spear she forged became one of Kratos's chosen arms.
By the account of Mimir, mermaids looked upon a part of a person's soul in order to commune with those who approached them. For this reason the Lady could not perceive Brok, who was missing a part of his own soul. Mimir, for his part, was reminded by her of Nimue, the Lady of the Lake from his homeland.
