Hrist
the Valkyrie of Quake
Hrist was one of the last Valkyries who stayed loyal to Odin after her sisters were freed. With her sister Mist she served as an enforcer of Asgard, and the two died together at the Spark of the World.
Hrist was a Valkyrie who remained loyal to Odin even after many of her sisters had been freed from his service through the efforts of Kratos and Atreus. Known as the Valkyrie of Quake and of Shake, she and her sister Mist acted as enforcers of Asgard, carrying out the All-Father's will until both were killed at the Spark of the World.
Loyal to the All-Father#
When most of the Valkyrie Council was freed from Odin's curse and defected, Hrist was one of only three who remained loyal to the All-Father, along with her sister Mist and the new Valkyrie Queen, Gna. She and Mist had never been cursed into corrupting physical forms as their sisters had, though Hrist's pale skin tone resembled that of the corrupted Valkyries, possibly because she had held a corporeal form for so long. Fanatically devoted to Odin and Asgard, she regarded Kratos as a worthless pretender and held that only the Aesir were true gods.
Enforcer of Asgard#
Hrist and Mist were first seen descending into Asgard alongside Gna. The two sisters trained the Einherjar, Odin's army, with methods so lethal that even the All-Father, himself a noted sadist, reprimanded them as going too far. When it was discovered that Kratos had killed Heimdall in Vanaheim, Hrist and Mist accompanied Sif to Niflheim to arrest Atreus, but Odin took them aside for a talk, leaving them unable to help Thor stop Atreus from escaping with the stolen mask.
The battle at the Spark of the World#
Odin sent Hrist and Mist to the Spark of the World to kill Kratos, capture Atreus if possible, and retrieve the mask while they awaited Surtr becoming Ragnarok. The sisters ambushed Kratos and Atreus and fought them as a pair, their unmatched coordination making them a far greater threat than a single Valkyrie. They subdued Kratos, and while Mist held Atreus in place, Hrist beat him without killing him, the two preferring to inflict pain. When father and son gave in to their rage, they broke free. Atreus transformed into a bear, tore off Hrist's left wing, and ripped her in two, killing her. Hrist and Mist were among the only Valkyries permanently slain by Kratos, as the rest were later restored by Freya.
Powers#
As a Valkyrie, Hrist possessed superhuman strength, durability, and speed, and was immortal save against a sufficiently powerful weapon or being. She fought with an atgeir and with her metallic wings, whose razor feathers could slash or be hurled as projectiles. She could manipulate Bifrost energy to travel between realms and to heal herself by invoking the All-Father. A master combatant, she and Mist fought in perfect concert, which Kratos compared to facing the sea and the sky crashing down as one.
