Mist

the Valkyrie of Clouds

Mist was one of the last Valkyries loyal to Odin after her sisters were freed. With her sister Hrist she enforced the All-Father's will, and the two died together in battle at the Spark of the World.

By Joe Garratt

Mist was a Valkyrie who stayed loyal to Odin after many of her sisters had been freed from his service through the efforts of Kratos and Atreus. Known as the Valkyrie of Clouds and of Mist, she and her sister Hrist served as enforcers of Asgard until both were killed at the Spark of the World.

Loyal to the All-Father#

When most of the Valkyrie Council was freed and defected, Mist was one of only three who stayed loyal to Odin, alongside her sister Hrist and the new Valkyrie Queen, Gna. The sisters had never been cursed into corrupting forms, though Mist's skin tone resembled that of the corrupted Valkyries from holding a corporeal form for so long. Wholly obedient to the All-Father, she dismissed Kratos as worthless and a pretender, regarding only the Aesir as true gods. Her wings were of a green metal, and her mask bore downward-curving horns.

Enforcer of Asgard#

Mist and Hrist arrived in Asgard with Gna and were set to training Odin's Einherjar, doing so with such lethal methods that the All-Father himself rebuked them. After Kratos killed Heimdall in Vanaheim, the sisters went with Sif to Niflheim to arrest Atreus, but Odin pulled them aside, leaving them unable to help Thor stop Atreus from fleeing with the stolen mask.

The battle at the Spark of the World#

Odin dispatched the sisters to the Spark of the World to kill Kratos, capture Atreus if they could, and recover the mask while they awaited Surtr becoming Ragnarok. They ambushed father and son and fought them in tandem with unmatched coordination. After subduing Kratos, Mist held Atreus in place while Hrist beat him, the two more interested in causing pain than killing. When Kratos and Atreus gave in to their rage they broke free, and an enraged Kratos beat Mist down, tore off her right wing, and snapped her neck. She and Hrist were among the only Valkyries permanently slain by Kratos, as the others were later restored by Freya.

Powers#

As a Valkyrie, Mist had superhuman strength, durability, and speed, and was immortal except against a sufficiently powerful weapon or being. She fought with large twin shurikens and with the razor feathers of her metallic wings, which could slash or be thrown as projectiles. She could manipulate Bifrost energy to cross between realms and to heal herself by invoking the All-Father. A master combatant, she and Hrist fought as one, a pairing Kratos likened to the sea and the sky crashing down together.
