The threat came when Ekimu and his brother Makuta fought over the Mask of Ultimate PowerMask of Ultimate PowerA heretical Kanohi forged by Makuta of Okoto that contained the powers of all six elements and ruined the Mask Makers' civilization the moment it was worn.. The shockwave scattered the Golden Masks across the island and left Ekimu in a deep sleep. Onua's arrival in the Region of Earth#

Korgot guided him through the region for weeks. On the way Onua checked that she really was female, since her village elders had told him the post passed from father to son, and Korgot took it in good humour. When a wall blocked their path she was about to break it with her Star Drill, but Onua offered to do it instead. (BIONICLE: Island of Lost Masks)

Recovery at the underground shrine#

Theft by Skull Basher on the approach to the Forge#

At the city, Onua was the one who pulled Tahu and Kopaka apart when they fought over the leadership. Inside, Gali urged him to bury a band of Skull Warriors, which he did, bringing down the entrance bridge as well. (BIONICLE webisodes)

On the way to the forge, the Skull Basher stole Onua's Golden Mask. When members of the Skull Army wore the Golden Masks they drained their elemental power, and the mask turned half clear. The Toa got it back before facing Kulta. (BIONICLE webisodes)

Armed with a Mask Stealer Staff and Hook Blade, he possessed the ability to drain masks of their Elemental Powers and once held both the powerless Skull Mask and the Mask of Creation., the Skull Grinder, put on the Mask of CreationThe Mask of CreationThe signature Kanohi of Ekimu the Mask Maker, the source of his creative craft. Stolen by Kulta the Skull Grinder, reclaimed at the Mask Makers' forge, and worn again in the final defence of Okoto. and absorbed its power.
