Pewku

Pewku is an Ussal, a species of Rahi crab associated with the Onu-Matoran, native to Metru Nui and later found on Spherus Magna. Originally blue and orange-yellow in coloration, Pewku molted to a burnt orange, silver, and brown coloring. Legs and claws served as Pewku's primary tools.

When Orkahm went missing in the city, MatauMatauA former Le-Metru test driver who became a Toa Metru, Matau wielded air, illusion, and shape-shifting before sacrificing his Toa power to wake the sleeping Matoran. followed his trail and found a carving bearing the name "Pewku," taking it as a sign that he was on the right track.

On the island of Mata Nui, the crab lived as a rented Ussal. During the Bohrok Crisis the crab carried the Chronicler, and after the Battle of Kini-NuiKini-NuiThe most sacred temple on Mata Nui, ironically built directly above Teridax's fortress. it bore Takua to Onu-Koro when OnepuOnepuOnepu is an Onu-Matoran and the High Commander of the Ussalry, bearing a Pakari and wearing the purple and black colors of his kind. Connected to the element of Earth, he resides on Spherus Magna. warned him that something strange was happening there.

During the holiday known as Naming DayNaming DayThe Matoran holiday where crisis heroes got new identities, turning Jala into Jaller and Maku into Macku., four Matoran and one Ussal crab received new names in honor of their service during the Bohrok Crisis. Jala became JallerJallerJaller served as Captain of the Ta-Koro Guard, led the Toa Inika to Voya Nui, and commanded the Toa Mahri through the recovery of the Mask of Life., Maku became MackuMackuMacku was a Ga-Matoran of Metru Nui and later Ga-Koro, attendant to Turaga Nokama, Kolhii partner to Hahli at the championship at Ta-Koro, and a member of the Chronicler's Company., Huki became HewkiiHewkiiHewkii rose from Po-Metru carver to Mata Nui's foremost kolhii player, then served as Toa Inika and Toa Mahri through the late wars of the universe., and Puku became Pewku.

When the Mask of Light was discovered, Jaller and Takua left Ta-KoroTa-KoroTa-Koro was a settlement located in Ta-Wahi, home to the Ta-Matoran, Tahu, and Vakama, and formerly connected to Teridax. The settlement was ultimately destroyed. aboard Pewku to seek the Seventh Toa, following the direction in which the mask shone brightest. Their route carried them from Ta-Koro through Le-WahiLe-WahiLe-Wahi is a region on the island of Mata Nui, inhabited by the Le-Matoran and Rahi. Formerly subject to the power of Teridax, the region is no longer under that influence., Ko-Wahi, and Onu-Wahi. In Le-Wahi an Ash Bear named Graalok attacked the travelers before LewaLewaToa of Air, member of the Toa Mata and Toa Nuva, whose career was marked by repeated possession, body theft, and aerial campaigns from Le-Wahi to Karda Nui. drove the beast off and joined them. After the events surrounding the Mask of Light, Jaller returned Pewku to Orkahm, whose own name had been temporarily changed to Orkan on Naming Day. The crab is later found on Spherus MagnaSpherus MagnaA desert world of ancient conflict that became the merger point of the Matoran Universe and Bionicle's true endpoint..
