Kerry Eurodyne: Samurai's Survivor and Night City's Rock God
Kerry Eurodyne is Johnny Silverhand's old bandmate in Samurai and, by 2077, the biggest rock star in Night City. This covers his history from the tabletop game, the Samurai reunion, his side jobs and the romance with V.
Kerry Eurodyne is a rock musician in Cyberpunk 2077, the co-founder of Samurai with Johnny Silverhand and the bandmate who outlived him by more than fifty years to become Night City's biggest star. He's been part of the setting since the tabletop game, where Samurai's story was first told. In 2077 he's rich, famous and stuck in Johnny's shadow, and his side jobs are about getting out of it. A V with a masculine body and voice can romance him. (Cyberpunk 2020; Cyberpunk 2077)
Who Kerry is: Samurai and after#
Kerry co-founded Samurai with Johnny, singing and playing guitar alongside him. The two shared the idea of changing the world through music, but fought constantly about how. Kerry tried to leave more than once and kept being pulled back by his friendship with Johnny. When the band finally broke up, it was Johnny walking out, not Kerry. Johnny died in the attack on Arasaka Tower in 2023, and Kerry carried on without him. (Cyberpunk 2020; Cyberpunk 2077)
The years after were hard. Kerry went back to his roots on Masbate in the Philippines for two years, then came back to music and built a solo career that went platinum and lasted half a century. He married, had two children, Ted and Kim, and divorced, and his ex-wife kept most of what they owned. By 2077 he's a living legend, still singing about corporate power while signed to a media corporation that owns his songs. (Cyberpunk 2077)
Kerry in 2077: the shadow of Johnny#
When V meets him, Kerry lives alone in a villa in North Oak, surrounded by reviews and press cuttings. His label is waiting on a new album that isn't coming. The scream sheets are full of a story that he put a gun to his head and was stopped by a bodyguard. Johnny hears about it through V and wants to see his old friend. (Cyberpunk 2077)
The meeting is in Kerry's house, with Johnny in V's body playing guitar the way only Johnny could. Kerry pulls a gun on the intruder, then realises who it has to be. He plays it cool and denies everything, but he's glad to have Johnny back. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Holdin' On")
The Samurai reunion#
Kerry wants one more Samurai gig. Partly it's closure. Partly he wants to prove to himself, and to Johnny, that he can play beside him now and do fine. They decide not to tell the rest of the band about Johnny and bill the show as a tribute instead. V tracks down Nancy, the keyboard player. Kerry goes after the bassist, Henry, who is in rehab, and the drummer, Denny, who turns out to live in Night City too. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Second Conflict")
Getting Henry out goes badly. He finds out everyone knew where Denny was but him, gets handed drugs straight out of detox, and the reunion turns into a fight. Denny won't play with Henry, so V has to choose one of them. Kerry finds a replacement for the other. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Second Conflict")
The gig works. Johnny plays it through V, and Kerry steps into the spotlight beside him in a way he never could in the old days. Afterwards, when V takes back the body, the reality that Johnny is gone hits Kerry and he leaves quickly. Kerry gives V his own revolver, the Archangel. (Cyberpunk 2077, "A Like Supreme")
Us Cracks and the manager#
Kerry's next problem is a Japanese pop group, Us Cracks, who announced a tour with a cover of one of his songs without asking him. Kerry hires V as backup for a sabotage job on their equipment and does most of it himself, then leads the police on a chase that reminds him of the old days. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Rebel! Rebel!")
When the group says the show will go on anyway, Kerry storms their dressing room with a gun. V's choice here changes his path. (Cyberpunk 2077, "I Don't Wanna Hear It")
- Calm him down. V points out that both sides' managers have been lying to them. Kerry apologises, and he later performs with Us Cracks and launches a joint version of his song. (Cyberpunk 2077, "I Don't Wanna Hear It"; "Off the Leash")
- Back his threat. The concert is cancelled. Us Cracks cover the song anyway and hit him with a restraining order. (Cyberpunk 2077, "I Don't Wanna Hear It"; "Off the Leash")
Either way, Kerry learns his manager, L.B. Kovachek, has been working behind his back, and wants revenge. On a club balcony he admits what really scared him about the cover: not looking like a sellout, but ending up in someone else's shadow again so soon after getting out of Johnny's. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Off the Leash")
The romance and Boat Drinks#
On that balcony V can tell Kerry he doesn't need anyone, or end it with a kiss. Kerry kisses a masculine V back, wonders aloud whether Johnny was there for it, then decides it doesn't matter anymore. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Off the Leash")
A few days later he takes V sailing. He plays a new song on a rare guitar and tells V he's done living by what he thought were Johnny's rules. The two drew from different places, he says, and his success was his own. Then he smashes the guitar, rocker style, and reveals the yacht belongs to Kovachek. The rest of the evening is his revenge. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Boat Drinks")
Where the tabletop and the game differ#
The tabletop books set out Samurai's story and Kerry's place in it, as one of the band's members in Johnny's era. The game builds most of what we know about him in 2077 from scratch: the North Oak villa, the divorce, the Us Cracks feud and his long fight with Johnny's memory. (Cyberpunk 2020; Cyberpunk 2077)
Frequently asked questions
- Can female V romance Kerry Eurodyne?
- No. Kerry is only romanceable by a V with a masculine body type and voice. Any V can do all of his side jobs and stay friends with him.
- How do you start Kerry Eurodyne's quests?
- Finish Johnny's side job "Chippin' In" first. Kerry's first job, "Holdin' On", follows, with Johnny wanting to see his old bandmate.
- Henry or Denny in Second Conflict?
- It's V's call, and it only changes who plays the reunion gig. Kerry finds a stand-in for whoever is left out, so the gig goes ahead either way.
- How old is Kerry Eurodyne?
- Very old for a rock star. He was playing with Johnny Silverhand in the early 2000s, so he's in his late eighties or older in 2077, kept young by decades of treatments.
