Cyberpunk Characters: Every Major Character in 2077, Phantom Liberty and Edgerunners

Cyberpunk's characters are mercs, fixers, netrunners, corpos and gangers trying to survive Night City, and most of them don't. This guide covers the characters people look up most from Cyberpunk 2077, the Phantom Liberty expansion and the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, grouped by where they appear, plus the tabletop legends the games keep mentioning. V and the Relic#

V#

V is a mercenary in 2077 Night City. The player picks V's look, gender and life path: Nomad, Streetkid or Corpo. With Jackie Welles, V takes a job to steal the Relic, an experimental Arasaka chip, and is shot in the head when it goes wrong. The chip brings V back but carries the engram of Johnny Silverhand, and it is slowly overwriting V. The rest of the game is V's search for a way to survive, and every ending is a different answer. Johnny Silverhand#

Johnny Silverhand was a rockerboy, frontman of the band Samurai and a lifelong enemy of Arasaka. In 2023 he led a raid on Arasaka Tower, and in the game's version he set off the bomb that destroyed it. He was captured and his mind was taken with Soulkiller. In 2077 he wakes up inside V's head, angry, selfish and funny, and slowly learns to care about someone other than himself. He is played by Keanu Reeves. The tabletop history tells the 2023 attack differently: there, Johnny goes in with a Militech-backed team, the nuke is that operation's, and Adam Smasher kills him inside the tower. Jackie Welles#

Jackie Welles is V's best friend and partner, a big-hearted merc from Heywood who wants to make it to the big leagues. He is fatally wounded during the Konpeki Plaza heist and dies in a Delamain cab after it. What happens to his body, and the ofrenda in his honour, depend on V's choices. (Cyberpunk 2077)

T-Bug#

T-Bug is the netrunner on the Konpeki Plaza job. She keeps V and Jackie covered from the Net until Arasaka's netrunners find and kill her mid-heist. (Cyberpunk 2077)

Dexter DeShawn#

Dexter DeShawn is the fixer who sets up the Konpeki heist. When it falls apart, he shoots V in the head at the No-Tell Motel and has the body dumped in the landfill. Goro Takemura then tracks him down and kills him. (Cyberpunk 2077)

Evelyn Parker#

Evelyn Parker is the client who brings the Relic job to Dex, secretly working for the Voodoo Boys. V meets her at Lizzie's Bar. After the heist she is caught and abused, and Judy rescues her, but Evelyn later takes her own life. (Cyberpunk 2077)

Viktor Vektor#

Viktor Vektor is V's ripperdoc in Watson, a former boxer who patches V up after the heist and is the first to work out what the Relic is doing to V's brain. He leaves V a message in the credits of every ending. (Cyberpunk 2077)

Misty Olszewski#

Misty runs Misty's Esoterica next to Viktor's clinic, reads tarot and was Jackie's girlfriend. The final choice of the game happens on her roof. (Cyberpunk 2077)

V's friends and romances#

Judy Alvarez#

Judy Alvarez is a braindance editor and techie close to the Moxes. She helps V understand the heist through braindances, fights to protect the workers at Clouds, and grieves Evelyn. She is a romance option for a V with a feminine body type and feminine voice, and she leaves Night City whatever V chooses, with V along in The Star. (Cyberpunk 2077)

Panam Palmer#

Panam Palmer is a hot-headed nomad of the Aldecaldos. After V helps her settle a score with the Wraiths, she pulls her clan into helping V, and in The Star ending V leaves Night City with her. She is a romance option for a V with a masculine body type, whatever the voice. (Cyberpunk 2077)

Saul Bright#

Saul leads the Aldecaldos camped outside Night City. He is cautious where Panam is reckless, and the tension between them runs through her storyline. (Cyberpunk 2077)

Kerry Eurodyne#

Kerry Eurodyne is Samurai's old guitarist, now a fading rock star living in North Oak. Johnny pushes V to help him find his edge again. He is a romance option for a V with a masculine body type and masculine voice. (Cyberpunk 2077)

River Ward#

River Ward is an NCPD detective V tracks down while looking into the mayor's death, and who later asks for V's help when his nephew is kidnapped. He is decent in a city that punishes it, and a romance option for a V with a feminine body type, whatever the voice. (Cyberpunk 2077)

Rogue Amendiares#

Rogue Amendiares is the queen of Night City's fixers and owner of the Afterlife, the mercs' bar. She was Johnny's partner on the 2023 raid and his ex. In The Sun ending she rides with him one last time and dies fighting Adam Smasher. (Cyberpunk 2077)

Goro Takemura#

Goro Takemura was Saburo Arasaka's bodyguard. Blamed by Yorinobu for failing to stop his master's death and cast out, he pulls V out of the landfill and makes V help him prove that Yorinobu was the killer. He is loyal to Arasaka to the end, and his survival changes The Devil ending. (Cyberpunk 2077)

Alt Cunningham#

Alt Cunningham was a netrunner and Johnny's girlfriend. She wrote Soulkiller, and Arasaka captured her and used it on her. By 2077 she is an AI beyond the Blackwall. Johnny remembers her as a woman. V finds she is something else. In most endings she meets V in Mikoshi and tells V the truth. (Cyberpunk 2077)

Arasaka and its enemies#

Saburo Arasaka#

Saburo Arasaka is the more than century-old head of Arasaka, kept alive by technology. V and Jackie watch his son strangle him at Konpeki Plaza during the heist. His death sets off the whole story. (Cyberpunk 2077)

Yorinobu Arasaka#

Yorinobu Arasaka is Saburo's son, a rebel who once ran with a gang to spite his father. He kills Saburo, blames an intruder, and casts out Takemura for failing to protect him. He wants to tear down his father's empire, and the Relic project that would let Saburo live forever is part of what he hates. (Cyberpunk 2077)

Hanako Arasaka#

Hanako Arasaka is Saburo's daughter, loyal to her father and to the company. V kidnaps her with Takemura to make her listen. She is the ally in The Devil ending. (Cyberpunk 2077)

Adam Smasher#

Adam Smasher is Arasaka's full-body cyborg enforcer, with almost nothing human left. He killed Johnny in 2023, and V fights him in most endings. He also kills David Martinez in Edgerunners. (Cyberpunk 2077; Cyberpunk: Edgerunners)

Anders Hellman#

Anders Hellman is the Arasaka scientist who led the Relic project. V tracks him down for answers about the chip, and he makes Arasaka's offer at the end of The Devil if Takemura is dead. (Cyberpunk 2077)

Brigitte#

Brigitte leads the Voodoo Boys in Pacifica. She wants to reach the AIs beyond the Blackwall and uses V and Johnny to make contact with Alt. (Cyberpunk 2077)

Meredith Stout#

Meredith Stout is a Militech agent who meets V in The Pickup to recover a stolen bot from Maelstrom. She is hunting a mole inside her own team. (Cyberpunk 2077)

Mr Blue Eyes#

Mr Blue Eyes is a mysterious man who turns up in the background of the story and offers V the Crystal Palace job at the end of The Sun. Who he works for is never explained. (Cyberpunk 2077; Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty)

Phantom Liberty#

Songbird#

Songbird, real name Song So Mi, is the FIA's top netrunner and President Myers's right hand. She has spent too long near the Blackwall and it is killing her. She brings down the president's plane over Dogtown, drags V in through the Relic and promises a cure. Her fate depends on whether V sides with her or with Reed. (Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty)

Solomon Reed#

Solomon Reed is a veteran FIA sleeper agent and Songbird's old mentor, sent to bring her in. He is a hard man who believes in his country more than it deserves. He can offer V a real cure, which leads to The Tower ending. He is played by Idris Elba. (Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty)

Rosalind Myers#

Rosalind Myers is President of the New United States and Militech's former CEO. Her plane goes down in Dogtown, and V has to get her out. (Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty)

Kurt Hansen#

Kurt Hansen is the colonel who runs Dogtown through his militia, BARGHEST. He sells weapons, hosts dangerous guests at the Black Sapphire, and is a key part of the deal Songbird and Reed are fighting over. Whether he survives depends on which side V takes. (Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty)

Alex Xenakis#

Alena "Alex" Xenakis is an FIA agent undercover in Dogtown, a former braindance actress Reed recruited. She works with V and Reed to free Songbird. (Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty)

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners#

David Martinez#

David Martinez is a street kid from Santo Domingo who drops out of Arasaka Academy after his mother dies. He installs a military-grade Sandevistan, joins Maine's crew and rises fast, piling on chrome until cyberpsychosis is close. He dies fighting Adam Smasher at Arasaka Tower, saving Lucy. Lucy#

Lucy is a netrunner who escaped an Arasaka program for child netrunners and dreams of going to the Moon. She and David fall in love. She survives the finale, and the last episode shows her on the Moon alone. (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners)

Rebecca#

Rebecca is the smallest and loudest member of the crew, a gun-crazy gonk with a huge shotgun and a soft spot for David. Adam Smasher kills her in the final episode. Her shotgun later turned up in Cyberpunk 2077 as a weapon. (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners; Cyberpunk 2077)

Maine#

Maine leads the crew David joins, a heavily chromed solo with his partner Dorio at his side. His cyberware pushes him into cyberpsychosis, and he dies on a job that goes wrong, which leaves David in charge. (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners)

Kiwi#

Kiwi is the crew's veteran netrunner and Lucy's mentor. Near the end she betrays the crew. (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners)

Gloria Martinez#

Gloria is David's mother, a paramedic working long hours to pay for his school. She dies of her injuries after a gang shootout, and David finds the Sandevistan she had been hiding. (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners)

Faraday#

Faraday is the fixer who gives the crew work and then sells them out to Arasaka. Lucy kills him. (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners)

Falco#

Falco is the crew's driver, the steadiest of them. He survives the finale and helps Lucy get away. (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners)

Tabletop legends#

Morgan Blackhand#

Morgan Blackhand is the legendary solo of the tabletop game who fought alongside Johnny and Rogue in the 2023 attack on Arasaka Tower. He vanished afterwards, and what became of him is one of the setting's open questions. (Cyberpunk RED; Cyberpunk 2077)
