Every Cyberpunk 2077 Romance Explained: Judy, Panam, River, Kerry and the Flings
Cyberpunk 2077 has four full romances, Judy Alvarez, Panam Palmer, River Ward and Kerry Eurodyne, each locked to V's body type and sometimes voice. Here's who can romance whom, which quest seals each relationship, the casual options, and how every romance ends in every ending.
Cyberpunk 2077 has four full romances: Judy Alvarez and River Ward for a V with a feminine body type, and Panam Palmer and Kerry Eurodyne for a V with a masculine body type. Judy also needs a feminine voice and Kerry a masculine one. On top of those there are one-night encounters with the Militech manager Meredith Stout and with paid joytoys. Each full romance grows out of that character's side jobs, and each ends differently depending on which ending V reaches. This guide covers all of it. Spoilers throughout. (Cyberpunk 2077)
Romance requirements: body type and voice#
Each partner's interest depends on V's body type, chosen at character creation, and for two of them on V's voice. Genitals, chosen separately in the character creator, make no difference, and nor does lifepath. (Cyberpunk 2077)
- Judy Alvarez: feminine body type and feminine voice. (Cyberpunk 2077)
- River Ward: feminine body type, either voice. (Cyberpunk 2077)
- Panam Palmer: masculine body type, either voice. (Cyberpunk 2077)
- Kerry Eurodyne: masculine body type and masculine voice. (Cyberpunk 2077)
A V who doesn't fit can still play every one of these side jobs. The kiss is simply turned down, and the character stays a friend. A V who fits two partners can date both without either finding out. (Cyberpunk 2077)
Judy Alvarez: the braindance techie#
Judy is a braindance editor working with the Mox gang, and she is in the main story from early on. Her side jobs follow her attempt to take over Clouds, the doll house where her friend Evelyn Parker was abused. If V doesn't take the bribe Judy's ex offers to betray her, Judy invites V to dive to Laguna Bend, the town flooded to make a reservoir. That night, in Pyramid Song, a V who fits her can kiss her and start the romance. Otherwise she tells V the next morning that she is leaving Night City. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Talkin' 'bout a Revolution"; "Pyramid Song")
Panam Palmer: the nomad#
Panam is a nomad of the Aldecaldos, met in the main story when V needs help catching the Relic's designer. A masculine V can flirt with her from early on, and the romance is sealed in Queen of the Highway, when she and V link into the controls of the clan's armoured Basilisk together. Finishing that side job is also what puts Panam on the list of people V can call on the final night. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Ghost Town"; "Queen of the Highway")
River Ward: the detective#
River is an NCPD detective V meets while looking into the mayor's death. His three side jobs follow the hunt for his kidnapped nephew Randy, and they end at his sister's farm with a family dinner. River then takes V up the water tower and gives V his revolver. A feminine V can kiss him there; a masculine V's advance just surprises him. With no part in the main story, his is the shortest romance in the game. (Cyberpunk 2077, "The Hunt"; "Following the River")
Kerry Eurodyne: the rock star#
Kerry played in Samurai with Johnny Silverhand more than fifty years ago and is still famous in 2077. Johnny pushes V to visit him, and the two get the band back together for one gig. In Kerry's later side jobs he goes after a girl group covering his song and then after his own manager. On a club balcony in Off the Leash, a masculine V can kiss him. Kerry kisses back and wonders aloud whether Johnny was there for it. Boat Drinks, a sailing trip that turns into revenge on the manager, follows. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Holdin' On"; "Off the Leash"; "Boat Drinks")
Casual romances and flings#
Some encounters never become relationships and don't change the endings. (Cyberpunk 2077)
- Meredith Stout. The Militech manager from the early job The Pickup can text V later and ask to meet, if V treated her well and the Maelstrom deal ended violently. This one is open to any body type and voice. (Cyberpunk 2077, "The Pickup"; "Venus in Furs")
- Joytoys. V can pay for an encounter with one of four joytoys, two on Jig-Jig Street and two at the Dark Matter club. Any V can do this. (Cyberpunk 2077)
- Johnny's affairs. While Johnny is driving V's body, he spends a night with Ruby Collins in A Cool Metal Fire and takes Rogue Amendiares on a date in Blistering Love. V lives through his love affair with Alt Cunningham only in his memories. (Cyberpunk 2077, "A Cool Metal Fire"; "Blistering Love")
Update 2.1 added hangouts: a romanced partner can be invited to V's apartments, and V can send them gifts afterwards. Phantom Liberty adds no new romance. (Cyberpunk 2077; Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty)
How each romance ends in every ending#
On the rooftop in Nocturne Op55N1, V can call a partner to say goodbye. A V in two relationships can call only one, and only that one appears in the ending scenes. For how each ending is reached, see the Cyberpunk 2077 endings guide. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Nocturne Op55N1")
The Star#
- Judy reaches the Aldecaldo camp with Carol's help and leaves Night City with V. (Cyberpunk 2077, "All Along the Watchtower")
- Panam leaves with V and the clan, bound for Tucson. (Cyberpunk 2077, "All Along the Watchtower")
- River comes to the camp to say goodbye. He won't leave his sister and her kids. (Cyberpunk 2077, "All Along the Watchtower")
- Kerry arrives in a Delamain cab and says he can't leave Night City now that he finally has it by the throat. He asks V to listen to his new album. (Cyberpunk 2077, "All Along the Watchtower")
The Sun#
Months later V wakes in the penthouse beside the partner they called. Panam is already in the shower. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Path of Glory")
- Judy can't stand the city or watching V's time run out, and leaves. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Path of Glory")
- Panam can't understand why V won't leave, and goes with the clan. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Path of Glory")
- River and Kerry voice their worries, then promise to wait while V takes one last job. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Path of Glory")
The Devil#
From the Arasaka orbital station, V can call a partner. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Where is My Mind?")
- Judy is glad the chip is out, horrified that V trusted Arasaka, and demands V come home. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Where is My Mind?")
- Panam is furious V didn't ask her instead and wants V home before Arasaka hurts V. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Where is My Mind?")
- River asks for the station's name so he can come and get V, and warns V not to trust Arasaka. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Where is My Mind?")
- Kerry is overjoyed the Relic is out and promises to make calls to bring V back to Night City. (Cyberpunk 2077, "Where is My Mind?")
Temperance#
With Johnny in V's body, he leaves Night City without seeing any of them, and each partner leaves a message in the credits. Judy worries V is ghosting her, Panam threatens to hunt Johnny down and rip V out of his head, and River says it's as if V has become a ghost. (Cyberpunk 2077, "New Dawn Fades")
The secret ending and the suicide ending#
The secret route plays out as The Sun or Temperance, with the same partner scenes. In the suicide ending, partners and friends leave grieving messages. (Cyberpunk 2077)
The Tower#
Phantom Liberty's ending puts V in a coma for two years, and nobody knew where V had gone. Judy now lives in Pittsburgh, married to a woman named Bianca, and ends the relationship. Panam won't pick up, and Mitch later asks V to stop calling her. River is wanted after selling NCPD files to Trauma Team to pay for Randy's rehab, and is too ashamed to meet. Kerry, on tour at the Crystal Palace, is happy to hear from V and promises to get back together once the tour ends in a few months. The Phantom Liberty endings guide explains how to reach it. (Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, "Things Done Changed")
Which romance has the best ending?#
Judy or Panam, if the ending is The Star: they are the only partners who leave Night City with V. Kerry has the warmest Tower ending, the one relationship that survives the two missing years. River's romance is the shortest, and in most endings he chooses his family and his city over leaving with V. (Cyberpunk 2077; Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty)
Frequently asked questions
- Who can you romance in Cyberpunk 2077?
- Four characters: Judy Alvarez and River Ward for a V with a feminine body, Panam Palmer and Kerry Eurodyne for a V with a masculine body. Judy also needs a feminine voice and Kerry a masculine voice. Meredith Stout and the joytoys are one-off encounters.
- Can female V romance Panam?
- No. Panam's romance needs the masculine body type, whatever the voice. A V with the feminine body can still do all of her quests as a friend and get The Star ending.
- Can male V romance Judy?
- No. Judy needs both the feminine body type and the feminine voice. Her whole questline can still be played as a friend.
- Can you romance two people in Cyberpunk 2077?
- Yes. A V who fits both can romance Judy and River, or Panam and Kerry, without either finding out. On the final night V can call only one of them, and only that partner appears in the ending.
- Which romance has the best ending?
- Judy or Panam in The Star, the only ending where a partner leaves Night City with V. River and Kerry stay in the city in that ending, but wait for V in The Sun.
