On one occasion a party that included Duke Leto Atreides and his son Paul flew out with the planetologist Kynes to watch a harvester at work. A worm came, and the carryall that should have lifted the harvester never arrived, so the Duke's ornithopters had to pick up the crew before the worm swallowed the machine. The missing carryall had been taken by a Harkonnen agent, who tried to sell it to spice smugglers. The smugglers in question were men of Esmar Tuek, and rather than take the prize they turned both the agent and the carryall over to the Atreides, a gesture that earned Tuek the household's thanks.
