Atropos
the cutter of the threads of fate
Atropos was the eldest and cruelest Sister of Fate, the cutter who ended every life with her razor claws. She dragged Kratos into his own past to undo him, but the Spartan turned her sisters against one another and sealed her within a shattered mirror.
Atropos was one of the three Primordial Sisters of Fate, the eldest sister and the cutter of threads who ended the life of every mortal and god with her razor claws. Titled the Goddess of the Future and the cruelest of the three, she was defeated alongside her younger sister Lahkesis when Kratos trapped them within their own mirror and shattered it.
The cutter of the threads#
As the eldest Sister of Fate, Atropos cut the threads of life to bring each existence to its end, and held the power to alter the histories of anyone she chose. She was the cruelest of the three, proud and arrogant, believing herself far more powerful than her sisters Clotho and Lahkesis and delighting in toying with the fates of mortal and immortal alike, threatening to cut their threads and end their lives in an instant. She wore dark clothing with golden armor and a helmet, her white hair long like her sisters', and her fingers tipped with razor-sharp talons.
Atropos spent much of her time within the magical mirrors of the Fates, through which she could travel across time and even into the past. She often resided within the body of her younger sister Lahkesis, who carried her until the moment she revealed herself to Kratos.
The journey into the past#
When Kratos came to the Island of Creation seeking the Loom of Fate and defeated Lahkesis, who refused to help him, Atropos revealed herself, seizing the Spartan and using the mirrors to carry him into his own past, to the battle in which he had slain Ares. Atop the Blade of the Gods, the sword that had let Kratos kill the war god, she attempted to change his fate by destroying the weapon, which would kill his past self and erase the present Kratos from existence. Kratos protected the sword and defeated her, leaving her trapped in the past.
Defeat#
When Lahkesis attacked once more, Atropos was partly freed from her mirror prison, but the two sisters together could not kill Kratos, who used the Amulet of the Fates to buy himself enough time to beat her back into the mirror and shatter it, leaving her unable to aid her sister for a time. In the end Kratos defeated both at once: when Atropos tried to hold him still for Lahkesis to strike, he escaped and tricked Lahkesis into stabbing Atropos instead. He then sealed both sisters within their last dimensional mirror and shattered it, imprisoning them for good. Believing them dead, he pressed on to claim the power of the Loom.
Powers#
As a Sister of Fate, Atropos was held more powerful than the gods or the Titans. She was immortal, killable only by a sufficiently powerful weapon or being, and possessed superhuman strength, stamina, and durability, requiring neither sleep nor rest. Her claws could cut the threads of fate to induce death, and she could project green energy from her hands as homing orbs, beams, and rays capable of damaging even godly weapons. She could fly without wings, summon her minions the Fates Sentries to fight at her side, and move through the magical mirrors to travel across time, designing and altering the destiny of every mortal, god, and Titan.
